If you do not know me irl or actively chat with me on skype, then you probably don't know a whole lot about me. So, here goes nothing. I am 14 years old and I am a very shy person. I am also very smart. In case you didn't know, I can code and I am good with computers. I am also almost entirely self-taught. I will admit that I did try reading books on coding once, and it was very boring. The thing that helped me the most was just reading code on github and watching people write code on youtube. I have friends, but they don't really understand me when I talk to them sometimes...

I would go on explaining more about myself, but honestly that is getting pretty boring and I have a short attention span, so moving on...

CTF was my life for the better part of 3 years now. The moment that I joined my first game of CTF, I was blown away by the creativity of the game. The HUD was in the chat, and it was different from anything that I had seen before. The flags were made of wool on a fence post. This was a very creative solution that made CTF different from any other game that I had ever played. CTF was the first server that kept me coming back. The game just had a certain feel that was like no other. I can't describe what exactly made the game feel so different, but trust me, it was definitely there.

MCPvP was a great community. I'm sure that there were rules on the forums, but to be honest, I didn't even know that any existed. We were pretty much free to do what we wanted there. Obviously, the huge problems there were eventually taken care of, if there were any. The forums had a lot of well-written posts, a lot of funny posts, and mostly, the forums were just a lot of fun. While CTF might have been able to capture me and my short attention span, the forums sadly were not. I believe that I had a grand total of 3 or 4 posts on the MCPvP forums in all 3 years of my CTF career.

In CTF, the mods were aloud to do a lot of fun things. They set maps, they had 1v1's in the spawn box, they gave players items, and they were just really cool and fun people. The mods on Brawl may be aloud to do these things. They may not. The only proof that I have of these things not being aloud is based on speculation and the fact that I have only seen mods set maps in game.

The first time that I joined a CTF match on Brawl, the only emotion that I felt was overwhelming anger. You have no idea how many times I caught myself trying to come on these forums and just flame all over Brawl. The robust HUD had been replaced with none other than the new scoreboard-based HUD. There is nothing wrong with the new HUD functionally. There is nothing that the old HUD did that the new one does not. The difference here, at least for me, is that CTF replaced something so creative with something so bland. The same is true with the new flags. They are now functionally the same as the old flags, but they are not unique anymore. The creative and innovative flags that I had come to know and love had been replaced by something so plain and bland. It would not have been such a problem if it hadn't been such a sudden change. If I knew that CTF would be changed so much when it came over to Brawl, I would not have been as excited about it. I would not be hyping in skype chats about it. I would not be constantly checking to see if it was online. After the Brawl update, I was feeling betrayed, exploited, taken advantage of. It felt like Brawl was just saying "Here's the game that you know and love. We only changed nearly everything that you like about it without even thinking about you."

I figured that I would end the Brawl hate there. After all, CTF would probably still be offline if Brawl hadn't bought it. Now when I play CTF, it just feels empty. That CTF feeling that I was talking about earlier is just not there anymore for me. CTF matches are fun, but not as fun as they once were. If I think too much about it, I almost start to cry, and that is coming from a person who very rarely displays any emotion.

We have tried to get rid of the Brawl changes, but at this point, I think that they are not going anywhere. The only thing that we can do now is remember the good times. Remember when mods trapped players in cages on request. Remember when we experienced that "CTF feeling." Remember what CTF once was to us, and be happy that it is not completely gone yet.

For any MCPvPers who wish harm or to flame on Brawl for these changes, please just stop. Brawl was not trying to hurt us with these changes. If anything, they were trying to breathe new life into CTF, a game that has remained pretty much the same for the time that I have been playing it.

For any Brawlers who experience the flame, I suggest that you simply ignore it. Eventually, the MCPvPers will come to their senses and realize that flame is not a good way to get things changed.

And finally, for all you hard core CTFers out there, don't forget the good times. The CTF that we knew may be gone, but your memories are not. We can get through these changes together, I promise.

Wow. Reading that made me think different about everything Brawl did to CTF. Although they made changes that made us mad, at least we have CTF to play. I only played on Mcpvp for a little over a year and by far, CTF is the best server ever!!! This CTF is like no other. I'm just glad a good server bought it. Brawl isn't here just to make money, they are here to satisfy us with the CTF we know, with a few changes.

Personally, I quite like teh new HUD as It's now easier to read chat. The problem is that now I don't feel such a big urge to chat around in chat as much, so not sure which was better. And I used to make memes and post them super frequently, but now I haven't. Back in MCPVP, I also actually looked in forum categories that weren't in CTF, like community, HG, Maze and sometimes even General. And I also used to make a lot more funny posts. But thinking about it, I was given nearly a year to integrate with MCPVP, but so far it's only been 3 months, so maybe in some time I might return to my former glory.

Ya sab was fun. If it wasn't for Brawl, CTF would be in the same boat.

Ummm ... Brawl doesn't own Raid, and Brawl is hosted only in Canada.

Brawl's survival server is very similar to raid.

MCPVP, the server that had CTF, HG, Raid, etc, went out of buisness. Another server bought Raid, while Brawl bought CTF, HG and Build.

    Brother! <3

Completely agree. I've kind of taken a new POV recently and started to just be happy that CTF is still a server. While there are some things that I think need fixing (glitchy flag recovering/pickups), I'm not exactly as frustrated as I was before. Course most of that was towards strength in SG (which is still bad) but still ;P

I feel the longer you look to the past as a better memory, the more you won't enjoy the present or future. Hopefully the things that make anyone feel "betrayed" by Brawl come to be understood as things that are added to enhance gameplay, not destroy it. To those who do feel let down, things can still change and the future for Brawl holds so many possibilities.

Have a lovely day everyone.

But you DO know that if you ever want to take a small break from CTF for a couple of hours, Brawl has like 6 more gamemodes, right?

What makes me feel better is that I heard that Chaploo bought the servers in part because he didn't want to see McPvP go rip, as he liked it there.
    I hope thats true :stuck_out_tongue:.
