I agree with @November. It honestly just depends on the class. If you're playing a class that can stop the other team very easily, or can cause high annoyance, it's just something you need to expect. I only think it's a "bad kind of targeting" if someone will follow someone to servers or still go after you no matter what class you are. But if you play pyro, archer, dwarf, any structure class etc.., it's just something that will happen and it's because of the class.

If someone is targeting you and you're getting annoyed, make sure you check what class you're playing before you decide to call them out for it.

Im targeted on sight pretty much by everyone cause i main chemist. Ive come to expect it and have adapated most of my strategies to engage targeters to stop them. so if any chemists hates being targeted cause of their class den suck it up buttercup and get to work xD

So here's a scenario that kinda mixes what you peeps have said is in the right and in the wrong. Lets say you're playing on a semi-small game of 20-30 peeps ( Aka newer players.) and you realize that the enemy team has scored 2/3 of their needed caps to win. You also notice that both of those caps have been made by one person on the enemy team who is able to bypass your defense and make off scot-free with however they do it. Suppose that in this situation if nothing is changed that person's next attempt to capture would most likely succeed and end up losing the game for you. So for the sake of the team you decide to seek out this person in the midfield to harass or kill before they get anywhere near your flag and continue to do this for the rest of the game. Would this be justified as a decent tactic or would you think it's a ethically wrong choice?

i do that when the target has proved to be especially capable of penetrating defenses but usually i don't go midfield to seek em out i try to intercept them nearby the base to avoid targeting accusations

I have mixed feelings on this scenario. I, personally, wouldn't go out to midfield to get this person. Like @blackfurrykitty I'd stay near my flagroom and intercept them to avoid the accusations.

I don't really target or get targetted. I tend to mind my own bussiness unless I'm playing defensively or someone engages me purposefully. It is pretty funny when I go archer and a random person persistently chases me, although I have shot them away many times without even getting hit by them.

I once targeted this guy named HurriThePanda and got a 28 kill streak off of him before I was sniped. I then targeted the archer and HurriThePanda.

Targeting really depends on the situation. If someone is the flag-carrier and complains about targeting, they're stupid. It's really depends on wat you were doing.

Targetting tends to have from a stronger player attacking a weaker player. Not trying to discriminate or anything, but it's mostly the brawlers that targets. I think this is because they don't play objectively but just goes killwhoring, Also probably because they are new to the gamemode and thinks the team that gets the most kills win.

But I agree, it's extremely annoying.

    I agree with @November
When I am archer most of the times 2 or more archer attack me and when they can't kill me as archer they switch to ninja and ruin stats -_-
But not only insta kill classes get targetters.
The pro players, who are really good in ctf with every class, or players who kill many players in a short time also get targetters.
Conclusion: Targetters are annoying but if someone helps you to kill him, the targetter is a pvp noob or you had luck than they are a free kill

To me, targeting another person is wrong, regardless of whether or not they are good cappers or killwhoring. It is their decision whether or not to contribute to the game. Even if you manage to intercept a known capper at midfield, all you are doing is putting them back the 30 seconds needed to get back (and really, it is your team's defense's job to stop him). However, targeting a specific class is something that I feel is acceptable. There are a few classes that, if left alone in certain situations, can determine the outcome of the game (such as assassins when both teams have the flag, pyros/dwarves guarding the flag room, archers shooting in my team's territory). Those classes (and engineers) are the only classes I target. If I kill anyone else, it is usually because I'm guarding or recovering. However, if I get assassinated/pyro'ed/sniped by the same guy five times in a row, then yes, a little revenge might be in order.

I, naturally as I main Archer, get targeted a lot. For me, targeting is when a certain player or group of playersplayers tries to kill you repeatedly and still tries to kill you even when he's getting killed by some1 else. I usually just prioritize based on how much of a threat a person is to my success and my team's success, which means I'll try to take out enemy archers, pyros, ninjas and medics and soldiers before any other classes.

Sometimes that's all that's needed. Especially if that class is more vulnerable in the field rather than a flag room.

I play a lot of mid, so I purposely target their good players for obvious reasons. Not like just one player, but everyone I know who could be a threat in general. I've gotten a few targeting accusations but I never really cared about them. It's the whole point of mid to kill their offense, so... just gotta roll with it.

I also enjoy when other people try to target me. Like, it's fun because then they'll take 5 lives just to kill me but I wanted to stop them from capping to begin with so they are doing the job for me.

From what I've seen alot of "targetting" is caused by the opponent that gets upset.

People do this all the time, what do you expect, for me to stop killing every time you try to elf cap on Opposites Collide?
I don't think that is targeting, but some people definitely do.

I have no reconciliation of that event and that motive is very much unlike me, are you sure it was Sibman654 and not someone else? And let's bring this into a pm since this is slightly getting off-topic.
