"Targeting"

I admit, when CTF was back on McPvP, I did use to call out people for targeting me a lot, that's when you get chased and chased. Targeting is really if a player is constantly going for you everytime you or they respawn, like they avoid anyone else then you, that's what I call targeting now.

 

30 seconds is enough time for a ninja to respawn twice, and plenty for the rest of the defence to catch up to you.

Really lol. Anybody can go killwhoring, even I target archers. Not everyone thinks the objective is fun when both sides have unbreakable defense. In a tie breaker the team with more kills gets the win so, YEEEEEEE.

 

Mostly when someone thinks you're targeting them, they basically put themselves in front of you and are asking not to be killed in my point of view. There are many ways why you target someone, such as if you can easily farm kills off of them, or because they offended you and you want revenge. But I don't really see that happening.

That's not called targeting, that's called playing defense. That's also why I stop capping when ur in the game xD

At least you're honest about it. I used to get mad when you'd kill me a lot, but now it doesn't bother me as much. I guess I've built a tolerance. At least when you kill me, I know it wasn't some targeting newb.

Yeah, the chasing thing is just called "being an asshole" .

 

I personally consider it targeting if I kill someone X amount of times, and they go out of their way to kill me back. Such as when a soldier is trying to cap and I'm playing midfeild/defensive archer, and I kill them as they come in. I think its pretty ridiculous that people target me for doing what I'm best at. Putting aside all the "I hate archer so I target them" people, most people end up targeting me because they can't accept a few deaths. You can't possibly play an offensive role and expect to simply get a free pass to and from the enemy flag. You're going to die, it's a part of the game.

But targeting someone and then quoting me there and saying "you're going to die" isn't exactly my point. As a midfeild/defensive archer, Im objectively killing, meaning I prioritize targets. I kill oncoming or leaving offensive players. If you happen to be the first priority, don't think it's because I just want to piss you off or I hate you; it's because I recognize your skill as a player and kill you first in hopes to make things easier for my defense. Same sort of idea if I kill you while you're midfeilding or even recovering. I'm killing you so that capping might be easier for my team, and so that I can gain control of midfeild for the objective.

(And before anybody jumps on me and calls me out for doing things like spawn camping or some other less objective focused form of killing, I know I do these things sometimes and 100% admit to it. When I do, the targeting may be deserved, and if you kill me enough then I'll leave and take a more defensive/ "less cheap" position.)

The same thing can apply to you there, if you come kill me so that your offense has an easier time capping, then props to you, I'm not mad. However, if you're killing me only because you don't like me or the class that I'm playing, that's when it becomes an issue for me. I'll let one revenge kill go because I understand people get frustrated. But if you're switching classes, and constantly coming back just to kill me, only to respawn and do it all again, then that's an issue.

I understand that you may be having a bad day and some archer/assassin/ninja is just pouring gas on the fire by killing you, so you feel the need to kill them a bunch in return, but keep in mind other people can be having just as bad a day. The person you're targeting could just be coming on CTF to try and relax and not focus on what's happening (or has happened) in the real world. Don't be the type of person who ruins that escape for them.
