Idea How to Fix Banners - 100% Fixed with Same Look

    When banners were first introduced, they were hugely broken as you could use any items when looking at them, thanks to the hitbox. Because of this, Nom changed them to invisible armour stands with banners on their heads, to "fix" them (more like pretend that they're fixed). This still didn't work, as armour stands still had hitboxes. However, there is a way to make them look exactly how they are now, except without effecting gameplay.

    How? Minecarts. You can spawn Minecarts with any block in them now, and the blocks don't have hitboxes. Also, add however much distance you'd like between the Minecart and the block inside, so you could have the Minecart at -1000 and the banner at a sensible place. The Minecart has hitboxes it'd have to be far down, but the banner won't.

    /summon MinecartRideable ~ ~ ~ {CustomDisplayTile:1,DisplayTile:1,DisplayOffset:0}

    (To change it, the number after "DisplayTile" NOTE: Not CustomDisplayTile to the ID of the block you want, and the number after DisplayOffset to how high up you want it to be.

    For some reason, I couldn't get banners to work properly, so you'd need to have the invisible armour stand with the banner heads in order for it to work.

    Also, since the banner itself is now an entity, you can make this fling out of players who have the flag, which'll look derpy but it won't effect gameplay and won't look as derpy as it does now.

    I also think coding a resistance that you get when you pick up the flag to make up for the helmet would be prudent.

    Since the banners are part of an entity now, its possible to make it how it was before on McPvP.

    I think all entities get destroyed at -1000.

    They can just be at y = 0, it doesn't have to be that far down. I just said that to emphasise that the minecarts don't have to be in the way.

    It's not a coincidence that you couldn't get it to work with banners. Pretty sure a Minecart just uses a falling block entity, which does not support a tile entity like a banner.

    As far as I know, heads and opened chests don't have any falling block entities.
