Idea I Don't Think Soldier Needs to be Nerfed Alongside Pyro

    Right now, soldier's got a good nerf that is almost ready to be implemented. Its popular, its been suggested a ton, it works, and its already been coded. The only thing that's holding it back is that pyro hasn't got a good idea for a nerf yet, so the staff think it'd cause an imbalance with offence and defence. I don't think it will, though.

    The most popular soldier nerf is a mana system: when you wall climb, your XP goes down, and when it is empty you can't wall climb - you need to wait for it to regenerate back. From my experience, as soldier I almost never have problems with pyros outside the flagroom, and the mana system would only really make soldier weaker outside the flagroom.

    Pyro is only powerful in the flagroom, and the soldier nerf wouldn't effect soldier in the flagroom. It'd only effect soldier outside the flagroom, where pyros are no problem at all. Perhaps if the soldier nerf was only released on half the CTF servers, servers 4 and 5, so if it imbalances defence and offence, it can be reverted.

    In all honest the Soldier nerf would not throw the Pyro and Soldier dynamic.

    Pyros fight Soldiers in areas where their wallclimb is of minimal use. Nerfing Soldier w/o Pyro wouldnt change the fact that Pyro wins %99 of the time.

    The nerf would become noticable outside a flagroom. Its kinda rich that this would cause an imbalance with offense and defense when its always been unbalanced

    Im basically just restating what the post has said, but its because it makes sense. If anything bad happens with nerfing soldier solely then you can always rollback.

    I don't think the mana system will be effective if it's for the climb, as you can just fall down. I think that climbs should fill the bar and the more you climb, the more time it takes to regain fall damage immunity.

    As a recoverer, it's not the soldier that gives me the most trouble, it's the medic that supports it. When going ninja, you can catch up to any soldier and deal serious damage as they cross the map. The problem lies when they get to their side with half a heart left, you go for da killing blow and then boom. Medic heals them back to full. Then this said medic takes the soldier into a hard-to-reach area and camps by them. >:L

    That's a problem with medic moreso than with soldier, and even if the soldier nerf was implemented with the pyro nerf, this wouldn't change. I can see what you mean though.

    Its been coded and tested, and according to Nom it works well.

    Not necessarily true. Some flag-rooms are rather large and Soldiers can pretty much just wall-spam for a while to avoid Pyros. The XP bar nerf would definitely affect this.

    I agree that's where it would have the biggest effect. However I'd amend that statement to that Pyros are extremely dangerous to Soldiers directly around the flag-room, not just in it. This is especially true on maps like Blackout and Beaver/Walrus Creek (and others I can't remember right now).

    I think if Soldier isn't nerfed alongside Pyro it will definitely make getting into, and getting out of flagrooms a lot harder with a much more limited wall-jump ability.

    I also don't think there's much point to releasing an individual Soldier nerf on two servers since its likely confuse new players who join those servers :stuck_out_tongue:

    I'm sorry, but I just don't see a point to any nerfs. I've never had a problem with any class, and I feel like all these nerfs are just making the game more complicated, and not actually fixing the "problem". What's the complaint about pyro? How can it even be nerfed? It's armor already sucks, and it doesn't have unlimited arrows. The only thing people want from nerfing pyro is the removal of the instakill.

    With soldier, i think the xp bar thing is just a really bad idea. Good thing I don't use those classes, otherwise I'd be so screwed.

    Especially when an engie is involved, holy crap xd
