Idea Pyro Nerf

    I'm just going to make this simple to throw the idea out there.

    Basically pyro has little skill cap so to make pyro more skillful I came up with an idea to make pyros more careful with their fire or to be burnt to death!

    • Fire Bow now can light the pyro himself when the explosion is in range.
    • Pyro takes double damage when lit from their own fire.

    This is kinda just short and sweet but this was just to throw the idea out there. Any criticism is helpful and please vote and comment your opinion.

    I like the idea of being lit on fire by the bow, but not the double damage. A Ninja jump critting a Pyro does like 5 hearts, so that's an instant kill if the Pyro is on fire. e.e

    I just realized that, I didn't think that much before I posted this. Maybe cut it down to 1.5 damage or just slice it off entirely?

    No. If you're going to nerf pyro please do away with the instakill.

    I've seen worse ideas but posting them won't really matter when the mods/staff will just implement their own reworks for everything.

    Pyro bow is usually used just outside that range. Pyro taking double damage from their own fire is an idea, would certainly make fighting a ninja interesting.... I think there are better reworks to be honest

    Another thing you might do is remove instakill. It might go something like Pyro Bow does 8 hearts of damage. This would let people escape/heal from the pyro, but any mistakes result in death. Also, if they don't heal afterwards, they get .5 hearts (is this right?) left.

    Just an idea :wink:

    To be honest... The rework can be implemented in with others to make it more effective. Am I seriously the only one who doesn't think insta-kills are a problem? Their just part of the game, and no matter how you rework it, if you remove insta-kills, the class becomes weaker (if not useless) and sales for that class will go down. I don't think the staff would appreciate less revenue :stuck_out_tongue:

    @oIdunnoUo We made pyro a capping class xd

    Ye pairo needs a nerf now, but the reason why. Is that ninja was nerfed, and there isnt really a Good counter of Pairos now.. And if pairo gets nerfed then soldier will be nerfed. Then assassin will be nerfed because soldier cant Wallclimb as much as it cud before. Yeah u see where im Going with This..

    The entire point is for the class to become weaker, and the the rework's point isn't to make it useless, just to make it better fit into CTF for balance.
    Also, there is no evidence that the sales will go down, and even if they do, that just means that CTF was basically pay-2-win, something you don't want. And besides, non insta-kill classes are still strong and fun, ninja being a great example.

    I understand that most reworks and nerfs are to weaken a class. I'm fine with this rework, I know it won't make the class useless. You missed the essential clause in my paragraph, "No matter how you rework it, if you remove insta-kills..." I was refering to the other comments made, specifically lung's. Another thing. You're right, there's no official proof that money will be lost. The insta-kill is the main reason the class is purchased. Let's be honest, if pyro did not have insta-kill, nobody, or at least a much smaller crowd, would buy the class. So, it's safe to assume, that potential revenue would be lost. That also does not mean that ctf is pay to win. There is still a reasonably large difference between the experienced players, and the one's that are just starting out. And yes, obi, we all know that ninja rocks, especially when you play it.

    Pyro will be reworked, along with tweaks for soldier and chemist. Unfortunately, I do not think this concept would be all that effective. It would make pyros even weaker rather than fixing the problem that resides with the instakill damage output.

    When coming up for rework ideas, we go through all the other tweak ideas for the class and take ideas from many of them to create a new, balanced rework that uses everyone's ideas. That doesn't make that "the mods' rework" if we implement it. It just means we don't use one singular rework found on the forums. So if you have an idea for a rework, post it so it can be considered, rather than complaining about moderators that are trying to make the game better for you.

    Off topic: If I leave CTF sometime in the near future (not planning on at the moment), I'd first like to see those tweaks be made. It'd be a major part of CTF history.

    On-topic: So that means every thread in this ideas section is actually read? If so, staff has just gained a bunch more respect.

    More on-topic: I agree with @LordChaos_92, ninja fights would definitely be more interesting... It'd be pretty hardcore on newbies, but at least pyro's power could be dumbed down a little, allowing for a flag steal if a ninja and another person use teamwork.

    How to fix this: Instead of nerfing 3 classes. Why dont buff one class? (Ninja: because it was the best counter of pairos. Im not asking to buff the ninja sword on all classes, but only pyro) Cause when i go pairo i barely get killed by ninjas its actully a bigger chance of a heavy killing me..

    Of course. That's what the ideas section is for.

    You want to buff pyro? That's hardly going to be popular. We don't nerf any classes largely. Perhaps a small tweak to classes like soldier or chemist to reduce wallspam/potspam, but we usually rework classes to add a balance of nerfs and buffs. On the other hand, please try to keep posts on-topic to the thread.

    I strongly agree, at least for a temporary bandage (lel everyone knows bandages eventually get peeled off in CTF). But it'd have to be a suuuper small tweak; a two-hit kill on a pyro without jump crits is just wrecking what little balance there is between ninja and pyro.
