    You can promote a lot more chat mods though. Chat mods don't have to be trusted as much as the most they can do is mute, and they don't have to have as much experience because you don't need to know what hacks looks like or anything like that. If someone's mature and active, they can easily become a chat mod.

    I'd like to point out a neat little feature of minecraft,
    It's the ability to make the chatbox invisible

    Also, instead of hiring more jmods, why not do what mcpvp did and code in an ignore function?

    The fact that they can mute though means that they can take literally anyone's right to speak in chat away in a split second even if they did nothing wrong, and although the staff can check for abuse pretty easily, it would probably cause a lot more drama than necessary (in theory). What might help is having stricter chat rules against flaming.

    And @BAWSS5 there is an ignore function xD

    i think the reason that sporty posts this is because he's eu and there are no eu jmods that go on ctf often. we often dont get chat moderation until like 3-4est when US people start getting home, which is fairly late in the evening for eu people and by that time im fairly sure there will have been some rager or flamer or someone who hasn't been dealt with. the only eu mod I see on ctf often is ike, but he plays primarily build so he isnt on that often either.

    You can ignore globally as well =D

    I agree with this, if I'm on around 2-3EST I've noticed that there's a lot more flame that goes unnoticed.

    Yeah, from the time i play, i rarely see moderators on.
    I agree chat mods would tend to calm things down, but the best option is to turn off the chat- Trust me, i've flamed/raged a lot at the randie/typekiller so turning off the chat keeps me off the temptation.

    I agree. I think we could do with a couple more EU mods as I don't think 4 is enough. 2 of which aren't super active.

    How about this: Don't smack talk people, and ignore the chat flame. It's pretty easy and mature to just not respond to chat flame in the first place.
