Idea [Class Idea] Warper

    OK, so I decided to make a simpler class along with the previous thread I posted. I also feel like this class would be a great addition to counter all the Ninjas and Assassins you get. They are great classes but they get annoying once in a while, right?

    Warper
    A mystical being with the rare ability to warp through space-time and phase through walls. With these mystical powers, they can be a great asset on the battlefield and a dangerous foe to square off against. Strong against Assassins and Ninjas because of their intangibility, but weak against Elfs and Necros because of their ability to use mystical power to a high degree also.

    • Call of The Hunter (Eye of Ender)

    Abilities
    • Dimension Blade - When you right click with this blade, you warp wherever you are facing to a limit of 10 blocks. This ability has a cooldown of 15 seconds.
    • Call of The Hunter - This is an ability only able to be used once per spawn. By right clicking with this item, you can warp to the person holding your team's flag with Speed Boost 1, Jump Boost 1 and Resistance 1 for 3 seconds.
    Like before, if you think this class is too OP don't pounce on it and criticise the hell out of me. I am still a rookie at this. I also feel like this class would be very enjoyable to use during CTF games.

    Is it also meant to be ridiculously annoying and overpowered? I'm sorry, there's no class counter that justifies potential instant cross-map teleportation. Not only is it insanely powerful, there is zero consequence for dying.

    Ninjas have Ender Pearls, but you have no problem with them crossmapping?

    And I dont think you read correctly, 15 second cooldown to a maximum of 20 blocks. Thats not instant.

    Dont just criticise it. TELL ME HOW TO BALANCE IT.

    You havent even said one thing that actually helps. All you have done is just hammer away.

    I have changed up a few things - decreased the teleportation distance, decreased the buffs on Call of The Hunter and removed some armour. What else ahould I do?

    Oh, my post actually got deleted, I ment to say that this idea isn't good and will not be good either, we already have a low armor class with an iron sword, and also already a class with things which "teleports/warps" you, we also already have classes with steak!, oh wow, maybe this is a combination of all of those :OOO

    Here's how to make it better: don't.

    There's already one class with access to teleportation and it's pretty broken. This one has steak, armour and two methods of teleportation.

    I'm sorry but this idea is completely terrible.

    You can't balance this class.
    it doesnt fit into CTF and its very plain with no real use.

    Its countered by elves and necros because of their ability to use "mystical power". The problem is, you don't explain how they actually counter it. Mystical power doesn't actually exist, so how do these classes counter warper?? Ctf really doesn't need this class, as it contains no real correlation to the objective (is it capping, recov, defense?) and it doesn't solve any sort of major problem. Countering fast classes isn't a big issue, as there are plenty of classes that already do this.

    As others are saying, this class isn't going to happen. You're asking for reworks instead of instant denial, but the problem is this class is just broken conceptually. I think Chemist, Mage, and Engineer are conceptually great classes! Buffing teammates is cool, a variety of spells is cool, and machines to support teammates and defend areas is also cool! The only issue is that the implementation is a little too strong or a little too annoying or whatever. If you rework them (change Chemist potion Effectiveness, maybe increase cooldowns on Mage spells, etc.) they can fit into the game very well!

    But the Warper is just flat-out broken. You've said you think the class is going to be fun to play. That's cool and all, but think about what it's going to be like having to play against it. The class is too focused, first of all. There's no point to use it unless the flag is being captured. Then people will /warper. The class is just there for a single niche that isn't present during the whole game. It goes against the design of CTF where every class has a role to do throughout the entire game.

    And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Being able to teleport to flag carriers is overpowered, unless you add all these crazy restrictions that make it a completely useless gimmick. This class clearly is oriented towards being a recovery class. Most recovery classes have a way of being avoided. Assassins are very vulnerable, having only Golden Boots, and Speed Boosts to help them survive. Their Assassinate doesn't even do anything if you right-click. A proper application of skill and awareness allows you to punish Assassins and send them back to their spawn. Archers are pretty deadly, but if you know where they are you can dodge the arrows or take cover. Ninjas are a little annoying with their invisibility and Pearls, but with proper Steak usage they can be defeated easily. And they don't have instant cross map teleportation, as you've been suggesting. An Ender Pearl can only travel so far (I think it's less than 50 blocks on flag ground), plus the fact that the Ender Pearl itself has to travel to the destination it teleports you, plus you have to actually aim the Pearl, makes it somewhat more balanced. And even then, plenty of people are complaining about Ninja being too mobile.

    Your class is just flat out broken. What if the flag carrier is low health? Warper instantly teleports to flag, kills carrier, ez recovery. At least with other classes they have to actually travel to the carrier or aim at them with a bow. And @iMuffles said, it would be way too easy to just spam it. Warp, deal a bit of damage, die, Warp, deal a bit of damage, die, repeat until you recover the flag. Dying serves as no punishment to this class, and it's abilities are too spammable to constitute to fun gameplay. What if you make it so the Teleport had to charge up like the Elf's shield? A 5 second charge time isn't going to help much. How about a 10 second charge? Still spammable. 15 seconds? Better, but still bad because teleporting to the flag carrier is just broken. Any longer and the class becomes too random. Depending on the map, cap times can vary, and this class becomes too strong or weak depending on the enemy team's playstyle or the map being played.

    And that's just the case of 1 Warper. What if you had 5 people go /warper the moment the flag is grabbed? All the issues that were present earlier are now amplified by 5. You're focusing too much on the individual impact a single instance if the class had on itself, and not thinking how it affects the entire game. The class is going to have horrible K:grinning: ratio. It sounds balanced, right? It's hard to kill the flag carrier once you warp in. But multiple people can play the class, and even though they're dying, you bet your ass that they'll recover that flag eventually.

    The reason we're not giving you ways to improve the class is because the class can't be improved. The entire concept won't work. If you really want to make this class work, you're going to have to tear it apart from the ground up and change how the core mechanics work, not just the numbers attached to them. Maybe have a way point system where the Warper can set up spots on the map that they can teleport to. The Dimension Blade is a neat feature, and I think with some reworks it could be incorporated into some kind of ability. But in its current state the Warper class is fundamentally broken and the only advice we can give you is to completely change how it works. But then it's not going to be the same class. We might as well create a new thread about our reworked Warper, because mechanically our reworks are going to make a whole new class.

    Sorry if I sound condescending, but I've just got to point out the flaws this class had at the very foundation and why you're always getting so much flaming and criticisms with your class concepts. Think about what the class does and how it affects the current meta of the game. Thing about what it'll counter, what counters it, and make sure it requires a certain amount of skill to get into and master. Put more thought into the concepts themselves, not just the armor or the cooldown times. A class with broken numbers can have its numbers changed. A class that's broken fundamentally is likely to stay broken unless it's torn apart and completely remade.

    I'm on mobile so I can't edit, but when I refer to KD ratio, I'm not implying KD is important, but I was referring more to individual stats. I kind of farted out my thoughts and some of them aren't completely reflective of my stance on your idea.
