So one thing that was added to this update that Nom didn't add in when he made the thread was that ninja's sword was once again nerfed to sharpness 4 because "It was destroying pyro too easily". Personally I think nerfing ninja (AGAIN) was a terrible idea mainly because now it can't perform it's intended roles anywhere near as well as it should against the other 12 classes, especially in it's intended role of recovery (And weren't we trying to entice ninja players back into the recovery role instead of using it to cap?). Perhaps considering a minor amour buff to pyro so it has more time to deal with a ninja ambush would have been more practical to consider.

The pyro armor buff seems like a nice compromise. It would be a good change in gameplay, and the sword sharpness will hopefully go back to the way it was.

Agreed, actually. I was at first reluctant to say ninja was kinda "eh" with sharp 4, but after playing against soldiers w/ the new update, I think it needs back to sharp 5, and give pyro a little armor buff. Maybe same with chemist??? If I remember correctly ninja easily destroyed chemists with the health nerf, but that might have been with the Health II potions instead of the 5 health III. But basically the main reason I'd like ninja to have sharp 5 is that soldier isnt really affected by the update much at all, except for the real hardcore wallspam. They can still travel over virtually everything in the map w/o having to worry about the xp bar running completely out.

I think MCPVP's damage tables were different, though. You needed 1 crit and 2 normal hits to kill archers with Sharp 6 on MCPVP, but you didn't need any crits when Brawl implemented it.

Honestly I'm fine with Sharp 5 as a compromise, but I think being able to 2-shot leather armour with buffs (sharp 6) is a bit too powerful. It's essentially an instakill at that point.

With what you're saying in that last part, Pyro is essentially an instakill too, since it can 2-shot while in frenzy.

Would need @NomNuggetNom to confirm any differences but honestly I remember only needing 3 normal hits to kill an archer most of the time. But with only a few recorded ranked matches we don't have much to prove anything.

Pyro needs 4 hits to set it up, pyro is slow and you can see it coming. Ninja has speed 2 and invisibility, it's an instakill that comes out of nowhere as opposed to an instakill that you can see coming and have plenty of time to react to.

McPvP hits required as ninja iirc, this is out of my memory though:

    soldier 4 hits
    medic 3-4 hits
    chemist 3 hits
    ninja/assassin 2 hits
    archer 3-4 hits
    pyro 2-3 hits
    necro too many hits
    engi 3-4 hits
    heavy way too many hits

    I honestly
I see what you are saying, and I do think pyro getting an armor buff would be interesting, but I think you undermine ninja a little bit. It can still do a ton of damage while recovering and in defense/offense. I personally dont even notice a difference when I am offense because I still take out defense at a good rate(defense of ninjas/assassins/pyros/medic). I do think that the staff need to focus on enticing ninjas out of capping and into recovery, but I wont argue to much on what they do, I try to see the bright side on some stuff while also noticing the bad. I know ninja cannot do as well in recovery against classes(especially with a medic). Thats all I have to say right now.

Your right on this, If pyro now gets protection after a few hits and achieve "Frenzy" or whatever, then why shouldn't their be a way to have ninja to have a similar ability. Probably after 3 hits, it could go up to sharp 5 or put it back to Sharp 5. I don't know, but ninja should have some type of counter attack on pyro what the new buff.

On mcpvp there was a base damage nerf to all swords and weapons. I believe Brawl doesn't have this damage nerf, so that is why you can kill Archer in 3 hits.

It's not the damage that needs a nerf, its the mobility. The damage wouldn't be an issue if ninja didn't have 15 chances to recover on you before you get to mid, or the ability to be at your flagroom every 15 seconds.

It's mobility is balanced by it's health cost for every pearl used along with it's complete lack of armor makes it easier to kill than any other class when caught and focused on. And when you make a class based on recovery, high mobility such as speed 2 and endear pearls are needed for it to be efficient in that role.
And I would like to ask you to keep your comments relevant to the thread please, this comment was getting a bit off topic and I'd rather we keep on topic.

    Jesus f*ck

Just reduce every class to nothing and build them up from scratch again, actually taking into consideration how they'd balance against eachother.

I mean honestly, if you guys keep insisting on buffing and nerfing classes you're never going to get them balanced if you do them one at a time.

It's like you guys are constantly moving weights on a scale around one at a time, trying to balance the scale, instead of just taking them all off, balancing them off to the side, and putting them back on again.

It's going to remain a constant flux of neverending sh*ttyness unless you guys get that the classes are fundamentally broken because none of them were designed to balance eachother out in the first place!

Why not nerf the mobility and buff the sword? What's wrong with Ninja having Sharpness V for example?

    Agreed.

I thought that it didn't matter if ninja had sharp 4 or 5 for pyros? Cause it's a 3 shot either way just more damage?

Back then it wasn't, since the classes were rarely rework on and i guess it balanced its high attack damage. Now in this time period, it is. Why i say this? Pyros would be an easy 2 shot kill, chemists would be 3, assassin 2 or less, mage maybe 2, you get the point. It would destroy someones health in a matter of seconds. My opinion? Keep it at Sharpness 5.
