Idea Possible mage rework?

    This is something that I've been thinking about for a while and I came up for an idea for something that maybe could work? I'm not sure it is just a basic idea but I would like to see what people think of it. Feel free to criticize me about it

    I don't intend to make this thread long and detailed with a full rework because I'm just pitching an idea and I'd like to see what the community thinks of it, how it could maybe be improved? etc. Or if theres just unanimous agreement it's not a good idea I'll just forget it.

    One thing I notice is that from a perspective of trying to balance the class, I think the cooldowns for certain spells are a little too low and could use lengthening or changing.

    What I was thinking of would be how mage could be made into a class requiring the player to actually play the class in a way where they cant just spell spam. My idea for this would be having a system in place where using your different spells correlates to how many damage spells you can hit. If my explanation this way is confusing I'll try and make it simpler

    For example:
    Each spell would have a certain number of charges needed to be used, and the charges would be stored seperately among each spell. (In simpler terms, the amount of charges a freeze spell needs would be different than flame spell) When using different spells the charges will only be used up for the spell used. (So using a flame spell would not take charges stored for a lightning spell) Charges can be obtained to use your various arsenal of spells by hitting your damage spells. Hitting an enemy with the damage spell gives the mage one charge for all of their different spells.

    Hitting enemy with damage spell= 1 charge given to all spells

    Charges to use flame spell: 2 charges (Flame spell charges are stored seperately from all other spell's charges, and max 2 charges can be stored for flame spell at a time until used)
    Charges to use lightning spell: 3 charges (lightning spell charges are stored seperately from all other spell's charges, and max 3 charges can be stored for lightning spell at a time until used)
    Charges to use ice spell: 4 charges (Ice spell charges are stored seperately from all other spell's charges, and max 4 charges can be stored for lightning spell at a time until used)
    Heal spell: Remains same as it currently is with the same cooldown, because I think the cooldown on that spell is fine personally, long enough

    If anyone would like to give me constructive criticism, ideas, or anything like that feel free, I'll listen. And like I said before, this is just a basic idea for a rework, not a full one. If anyone has any confusion with anything I said feel free to ask me and I'll answer to the best of my ability.

    also... How about the charge is the Durability Bar... Full means it fully charged empty means its not charged... And the xp bar is not removed. Also... Regen Spell is not affected but theres an ammo needed for it (regen pots?)

    I think that regen spell should be left where it is and work the same as it currently does. The cooldown is fairly long and not spammable making that balanced. And I think thats a good idea about the durability bar. What that made me think of is that the durability bar on spells could be used to show charges, for those spells that do use charges. Then for the heal and damage spells, have the xp bar show the cooldowns.

    You could have the XP level showing the charges and the XP bar showing cooldowns, I think that'd be easier to understand.

    Thats a good idea :grinning:, it does make more sense so I'll make the change
