If you're going after him and him only then yeah it's targeting

 

In that scenario, I'd say that it isn't targeting. I had the same situation a couple of days ago. A ninja kept coming to our flag room, and I was defending the flag. I would kill the ninja each time he tried to steal, and he accused me of targeting.

 

What if it's that rare occasion where that person is the only person you'll see for the next 5 minutes? Is that still targeting?

Targetting only occurs in midfield, if person A repeatedly goes for person B on sight. There is no such thing as targetting when defending the flagroom.

 

Why does it really matter? When most people call someone a targeter they usually are just really mad because they died. Usually when one person is better than another the other calls them a targeter after a few kills.

 

Well if its a necro, than You should blatently ignore him because no harm will come from him anyways.

 

If you had to go out of your way to kill them repeatedly, you're targeting. If they run into you repeatedly, you're not.

 

If you are intentionally going after the same person and killing them then it is targeting, but if you always coincidentally happen to find the same person then it is not. And when someone always comes after you but you always kill them, that is also not targeting. That is called defending yourself, just tell them that next time you see a person like that. D

Also, I hate it when people 'revengekill' you when they walked up to you in the first place and started attacking you. They will then dedicate their next thirty minutes to targeting the sh*t out of you, even if it means they die to you 20 times in order to kill you once.

Can't they just cap the flag, play the aim of the game, rather than right clicking then left clicking people (Assassinating randoms at mid) or hiding near spawn spamming arrows everywhere?

 

I once had a guy who basically would run into our spawn to kill me specifically for three months because I shot him 7 times in a row as he ran through a chokepoint.

That was fun.

Agreed. Revenge kills are a way for people to vent their frustration built up over a ctf game (yes the game is infuriating), as it feels satisfying to kill someone who killed you. In addition, they can also justify it to themselves, claiming the old 'you killed me first' mentality. I also think this is the reason for most chat flame, fuelled by the game, and not by the people they rage at.

If he and you are playing objectively then I would say it's not classified as targeting. If you're killing him just for the sake of it, then it would be targeting. If you kill him and only him w/o playing objectively, it's targeting. If try and go for him out of a group of people like every time, I'd say that's targeting also :I

Aye, but I admit I usually can't help but get a little satisfaction in there when I can (but ofc I don't make it a personal attack by pointing it out to them). It's especially convenient behind the safety of archer's long-ranged you-never-saw-it-coming instakill!

 

Or ignored, but that's rare.
