    Assassin

    Iron Sword (Assassins Blade): Deals 2.5 hearts of true damage on first hit, then 3 hearts, then 3.5 hearts (progression shown on exp bar). Your attacks stay at 3.5 hearts, but the exp bar (and the damage boost) fade after not hitting anything for 3 seconds.

    Shears (Knives): Right click to throw a knife (like mages damage spell) that does 4 hearts of true damage and cripples your target. Crippling gives slowness II and -haste (so they swing really slowly) for 1 second. 5 second cooldown.

    Eye of Ender (Shadow Dash): Right click to teleport forward 15 blocks in the direction you're facing. Right clicking this again in 3 seconds after activation teleports you back to your original location. 8 second cooldown.

    Passive Abilities:
    Stalk: Assassin has Speed I
    Blood-Lust: Hitting an enemy gives you one heart of health.
    Hunters Instinct: Assassin can see enemy health values

    Interesting. I feel like it'd be kind of meh for recovering though, with the weak armor and no really strong ability. The 2.5 hearts true damage will be able to 4 shot anything which is pretty good, but it could also be killed by a class with steak before it does much. With the knives, this would basically only be effective for recovering on the run while the FC is running back to base.

    I also like the eye of ender, it kind of gives it the mobility it needs to be fast, but isn't too OP.

    Maybe some tweaks, some extra abilities or armor, but I like the idea.

    I like it. Question/suggestion: The pearl doesn't make you go into or through walls, right? It should make you stop right in front of a wall if you point at a wall that's fewer than 15 blocks away. But yeah, good rework :wink:

    While I completely despise Assassin as both a class and a concept, and believe that it serves literally no purpose in CTF (and never will) I do agree that this rework is an improvement over the total bs trash that is current Assassin. However, considering that most anything would be some kind of improvement over current Assassin that isn't saying much.

    Here's what I think of this rework in two words: Discount Ninja.

    Why? First off I admire the effort that went into making Assassin a standalone, unique class. Nevertheless, the fact is, Assassin in any way shape, or form is far too hamstrung by both its name and concept to meaningfully differ from Ninja.

    Here's a few of this Assassin's similarities to Ninja:


    • Sword is meant to deal a steady amount of damage in melee, like Ninja, but it is a bit weaker than Ninja's own. Ninja's sword can deal more than 2.5 hearts of true damage to many of the classes and can deal far more damage than this Assassin can to squishies like Elf, other Ninjas, other Assassins, Chemists (armor is weak although it has a large heath pool), Pyro, Mage, etc.
    • The eye of ender is literally a highly limited/nerfed Ninja enderpearl.
    • Assassin passive is a toned down version of Ninja's passive.
    In sum, I firmly believe, as I always have, that Assassin should be removed from CTF and everyone who bought it should get a refund. This rework is just another example of why removal of this class is necessary as, although it is a creative rework, it utterly fails to make Assassin really different from Ninja. I mean, why would I want to play this Assassin when I could play Ninja? The damage output is about the same, both classes are squishy, Ninja has way more mobility, and plus Ninja has invisibility/flash bombs. I don't know about you but I'm starting to lean towards playing Ninja instead of Assassin, which has neither invisibility, flash bombs, or comparable mobility. Now, I'll admit that the Assassin armor looks cool and everything but I don't use any class to look snazzy unless its Fashioninsta and Assassin is not that class.

    If anything I'd say my motivation to purchase Assassin, let alone play it, is lessened with this rework because I can't get easy recoveries now which is one of the big selling points of current Assassin. In short, what's been done here is that Assassin's instant kill has been removed and replaced with nothing particularly powerful, which I feel would make the class even more pointless and dumb in game then it already is.

    Interesting, but who's going to kill that enemy pyro know, who's going to hard counter mage, who can just clean up cluster****s and don't you think it's a very different recovery role you're giving the class?

    Also, I don't like the amount of true damage running around the game right now what with pyro and elf and mage qq

    Nice concept, but huge role change

    it still defeats the purpose of armor. Less and less classes actually need armor now, armor is becoming less important, thus nerfing classes like necro, heavy or soldier.

    I still love how assassin is but I have to agree with this rework. It makes assassin more skillful!

    Here are some ability ideas to give a bit of taste: (might be too much XD)
    Assassinate: (Passive)
    Fall on an enemy from 8+ blocks to deal 5.5 hearts of true damage or less or more. (CD: 6 seconds)

    Sneak attack: (Passive)
    Hit an enemy from behind to deal 2.0 X the damage and give them slowness I for 1 second. (CD: 9 seconds)

    Unarm: (Passive)
    Block for 2 seconds and when someone hits you, they will lose their item for 3 seconds. (CD: 12 seconds)

    Perhaps give it Golden boots with protection and or feather falling III?

    -I dun really see how any sword isn't meant to deal a steady amount of damage. I mean, you could say that about basically every class. In addition assassin has that knife ranged damage, while ninja has no ranged damage. Also, is if weaker than ninjas? I'm not really sure, because I don't know the numbers. And the point was to have ninja stay the primary class for taking down squishy classes, while assassin has a leg up on classes with more armor (soldier, heavy, etc...).

    -Well, it's like ninja enderpearl in that it teleports yus. But the teleport is completely instant, and you can teleport back. Just because they're both similar in action doesn't mean it's worse. The purpose is completely different, you wouldn't use a ninja pearl in combat, but you would definitely use this.

    -Yeah, that's completely true. I didn't want to give assassin the same speed because it's more about damage and not about mobility, but then again most classes don't have speed so I really dun see how it matters.

    I dun see how the damage output is the same however. 6.5 hearts of true damage in about a second (knife+sword hit), and then the follow up sword hits while they're crippled is more damage, faster than ninja can deal. Now, ninja still deals more damage to squishy classes, but like you said, ninja's better for dat.

    Now, yur comparisons to ninja are fair, since both classes are meant to recover. But that doesn't mean assassin is useless, and it certainly doesn't constitute a removal from the game. I mean, many classes are similar in role, but they have different options and abilities to achieve that role. For example, soldier and heavy both cap, but soldier relies on it's mobility while heavy relys on pure tanking power. There is no reason that assassin can't recover using x mechanic, and ninja can't keep doing what it does.

    After looking back on the rework however, I do agree that the damage output is kind of small for assassin, not in comparison to ninja, just in general, especially given it's lack of mobility (or stealth).
    So to fix that, I'm going to increase it's suvivability, and burst damage output, and hopefully differentiate it from ninja in it's role (more straight up survivability as well as scaling true damage).

    New skills:
    Lifesteal (replaces bloodlust): Assassin steals half a heart of health on each hit.

    Serrated Blade: Assassins hits get progressively stronger, shown using the exp bar. The hits start at 2.5 hearts of damage, go up to 3 on the next hit, and then the assassin hits for 3.5 hearts. Not hitting an enemy within 3 seconds after each charge drains the exp bar.

    I guess that fixes the steady sword damage problem you had too xD

    I added some abilities according to Admirals feedback ;o
    Yur right about the steak, so I increased it's damage.

    Yeah, it stops if you hit a block. Also, it's not a pearl, it's an instant teleport. Basically click and teleport.
