So, I'm sure you've noticed that recently we've been seeing a lot of Assassin reworks. Lot's of peeps want Assassin to be the next rework, even @NomNuggetNom mentioned to me that he likes the idea of Assassin being the next rework (hope you don't mind that I mentioned you).

I have decided that the next rework I'll be working on is Assassin. Personally, I think one of the main problems of Assassin is the blocking mechanic, due to it being too ping-based, leading to unfair insta-kills. But, what I want to know is:
    • What do YOU think is the problem(s) of Assassin?
    • Should Assassin have a rework? If so, suggest ideas.

Let me know in the comments below.

@obikenobi21 has a gr8 rework in the main CTF section

As for me, the main problem is the instakill in general. Although I myself am getting a little uncomfortable with the way CTF may be moving toward true damage, it's still the best replacement for the power of instant kills, assassin included.

For me, the problem with assassin is it's overall design. On paper, assassin is completely balanced (not counting laike pyro and mage), however in practice it's a frustrating class to deal with.
It's main problem is that it is either too good or just really bad. Once you use your redstone, you either kill someone or die (usually). There is no in-between, which makes for really frustrating gameplay. So it really needs to be reworked.

Assassin definetly needs rework, especially with the addition of 1.9 in the near future. The sword mechanic will be completely new, there is no way assassin can stay the same. I still think necro should be top priority though. :stuck_out_tongue:

Necro needs some more love, and I'm happy you still remember that it exists :stuck_out_tongue:

Additive or multiplicitive true damage (I dont know who suggested this) but it's like, 1 heart for the first hit, 2 hearts for the second, 3 hearts for the third, and 4 for the 4th. Keep the speed and give it maybe a steak or more armor.

Assassin needs a higher agility and mobility rework, making it a parkour type class that can sneak and drop down from high places surprising the enemy(s). High damage like the ninja but true damage of course, perhaps give it a jump boost for an ability or levitation as one too. The assassinate should stay but you have to sneak on the enemy for it to deal very high damage. What class should counter the class? Ninja? Elf? Or what.

I tried to rework it but I think I rushed it a little bit and it could be a lot better. What I'd like to see is an Assassin that's completely focused on Defense and Recovery. Here's what I took from it:

    - Putting in some sort of parkour mechanic would make it a lot of fun and would make sense too (see Assassin's Creed).
    - If its primary kill option revolves around ambushing, then people are going to use it to be randy.
    - It needs to be able to kill quickly and easily when recovering.
    - High kill power and mobility would make it very good at capping, so it would need a nerf in that area.
    - It needs an incentive to keep it in defense.

I also quite like the mindgames that the current Assassin uses - its presence is enough to keep people from approaching, and to stall cappers while they block.

Essentially, you want something that can consistently take out cappers on its own while being able to support its team in defense.

imo, Assassin should have similar abilities to The Assassins Creed saga:
    * The ability to climb walls (With a max height )
    * Feather falling (Enchanted boots with ff 2)
    * Ability to enter bushes (Becomes invisible in them)
    * Double damage when Attacking in mid-air (Since instakilling would be op i think double damage should be enough)
    * Full leather armor (Well, Assassins have a leather ''costume'' so y not)
    * Infinite Speed I (Instead of speed 3 Sugar)
These are some basic ideas i've had in mind

Entering bushes would just give map builders yet another obstacle to build around imo. And by attacking in mid air, do you mean critical hits, or like hitting someone while flying on a sponge? Because either one could be done if "mid-air" simple means not touching the ground.

I meant double-damage when jumping on someone off a building. it should kindof represent how an assassin assinates some1 by jumping off a building for example. (Great explanation ikr)
Yes because that's what an assassin is

Remember, in CTF, no class is like the other. As opposed to many mobas, you can't divide the classes into three or four categories and be done with it. Every class has its own - multiple - roles. If we were to kill the individuality of a class, we'd not really be treating it like we should be. Where's the point in buying assassin if it doesn't add anything new?

Well I mean assassin is exactly ninja except it sacrifices mobility for instakill (at least that's what it currently is) but yeah .-.
