I found colonel graff in a hiding spot on the building on the map with the river. I had to go above him and do a 180 assassinate to get him because of his turret. it was amzing i pulled it off

Alright, Not too be devils advocate, But I'm going to be Devil's advocate purely because I like it as a class. Its an interesting approach to a fast paced game not many enjoy. Its excellent and varied utility options make it a good class to assist your team. Not carry it. Most people who use engineer either A. Are freeday Nubs, or B. 10 second after freeday Nubs. Some of you might know I beg people for buffs as engineer, and use my melee weapon too much for my own good. I have never used the manual override except for blocking. And even then its usually too late for my cheap ass. I admit the turret can be annoying for weaker classes, but thats its real purpose. :/ If you play proactively and not just camp, you can play on defense really well. The turret combined with the pickaxes knockback can really help against ninja's and other **** too. JS I like enginub.

    F2Ps exist, mate.
Also, people don't like to embarass themselves for playing that class.

    You know the one.

I never said it's the only class. I'm saying it's been called out a lot more than almost any other class, if not all others. For a pretty good reason.

A class like engineer does not belong in a PVP based game. Know why? Because it's really PVT. Player vs Turret. The engineer literally can just go hide somewhere while their turret, teleporter, and regen stand does everything for them. If they feel like they need to check up on their stuff, they can just go back through the teleporter that's teleporting their whole team to the flag room.

I'm basically asking for a whole rework of engineer. Whhiiiccchhh a few ideas for are popping into my head right now, actually.

IMO, the only thing I feel is definitively strange about Engi is that the three classes with tools that can break a turret proper (Necro, Engi, Pyro) are all Premium.

My usual counter to the idea of leaving a turret is "You can just walk in and break it" (which isn't terribly difficult as Engi), but that leads to an issue where someone who doesn't have any classes pretty much can't without it being a massive pain.
Only free class I've seen "counter" an Engi is an Archer that headshots them, which isn't particularly an ideal solution either.

But really though, if you actually have a pick/axe it's really easy to take a turret out.

Easy to take out the turret, but again you have the engineer to kill + probably the other 20 people he's teleported. Which in that case the only viable option would be pyro or possibly archer.

As stated earlier, if a team is involved you need a team.
It'd be the same if the enemy team decided to zerg rush in. A minute to teleport a team one at a time, or a minute for them to all run in together feels about the same to me. Only real advantage is the fact that a teleporter is more likely to be used than convincing your team to rush.
Also, you can break it on the other side if you have a pick and that stops the flow entirely. These pressure plate teleporters die real fast to one compared to the workbench ones they used to be.

Should you go to where the Engi is and break their turret/tele, enemy Engis seem to tend on "run around and try to place another turret" than actually fighting. It's not terribly hard to stop an Engi itself.
I've also seen the strategy of "charge in as Assassin", which since an Engi's sword is the manual fire, they're unlikely to block. Of course, Assassin is also Premium (thankfully), so the immediate idea goes back to "give someone a pick".

Worst case, if your team is a bunch of buffoons, you can just bash your head against it until it works. Going back to where an Engi is generally doesn't take much time compared to how long they'd need to come back and set up again.
(Unless it's defense, then 90% of the time there's a way around and 99% of the time there's some creative way to deal with it)

TL;DR: Give a pickaxe to someone else, kill teleporters.

Um. . . usually that's most of the players on the team. Generally there's only 3-6 regulars on a fairly large team.

    @pookeythekid my possible engineer rework.
Okay let’s try this again. Engineer rework! https://www.brawl.com/threads/54485/

If you can't kill the engi thanks to that blasted turret, the 15-20 people that come through that blasted teleporter, or that blasted cake, you're obviously 'bad' because 'engi doesn't need a Nerf as its a low-armoured class'

I don't think we'll be seeing any huge overhaul reworks done in CTF. Even the latest patch (if you can call it "latest" at this point) introduced very minor changes.

An easy way to limit engineer's power is to make it deal the most damage in the middle of its range, with it being weakest at its highest range and when enemies are right next to it (or have it as either highest or lowest range and have it toggleable somehow).

Most of you people hate engineers when they're on the opposite team, but when they're on your team I don't see you guys complaining.

It's more or less the same deal for hackers. When they help you it's fine but the second they're against you everyone loses their ****.

    Can confirm:
Oppsites Collide, <Guy> They have two engis blocking the flag, my god
Clocktower, <Guy> Alright, let's set up three engineers at the flag

With me on red and those being paraphrased.
The reasoning was that Clocktower makes it okay, because it always happens on Clocktower.

I play as engi rarely and it IS possible to take me out. The thing is, people don't generally mob around the engi, they run towards the enemy like baboons. However, in the rare case that I DO manage to get people to work together, then the enemy can either send in headshotters until it works or pull a team together. Heavy Assassin combos can easily take out engi as the heavy soaks the turret while assassin takes the engineer him/herself. I do see your point with the tools thing, and a counter would maybe be give one of the free classes (Medic or soldier probably) a "Deconstructer" which would just be a pickaxe for taking out engineer and necro posts.
