Necro: The Forgotten Class

    Hey everybody.

    So as everyone knows, Necro is essentially the worst class CTF has to offer. (I'm talking about in terms of uselessness, you can say Engineer or Dwarf is the worst, but they definitely come in handy) No one can deny it. It used to be an extremely powerful snowballer, but now its nothing like it used to be after constant nerfs beating it down. The only reason someone would ever pick Necro nowadays is to afk to get something to eat.

    So I think we can all agree than Necro needs a complete overhaul. Forget spawners and everything associated with the current Necro because it's all terrible. TERRIBLE! There's no right way with it right now.

    The purpose of this thread isn't just to point out how bad the class is, it's make suggestions on how to change the class.

    One idea is to allow the Necro to turn into mobs. Based on the mob they turn into, they receive different stats and abilities, which can allow the Necro a completely different style of game play. The mobs can include things like zombies, skeletons, just to name some. This idea obviously isn't fleshed out and will need tweaking and such.

    What do you guys think should happen to Necro? Any ideas? Should Necro even be changed at all? These are all just brainstorming ideas.

    Zombie is strong, Skeleton shoots arrows, Creeper does a super powerful explosion, Horse is fast, Chicken removes fall damage, Spider climbs walls, they'd all have different speeds and weaknesses... it could be so fun :grinning:

    Omg the first paragraph I was thinking, "this is a good idea, but we should let necros turn into mobs." Then the second paragraph came up and I was like OMG!!!! I really like this idea!+1

    good but definitely needs some sort of cooldown if you are going to add

    This sorta defeats the title of "Necro", being someone who summons beings from the dead. You turned it into more of a shape-shifter, but I like it :grinning:

    might be a bit too strong with all of those powers ;p look a slowly falling creeper that just climbed up that wall

    I think what she means that you can only use one ability at a time maybe even a cool down.

    Well, back in the days of McPvP, there was and idea of making necro more of an active class (thought much like McPvp, it got stamped with Soon™. My idea stemming from that is that necro gets two mobs to fight with, starting out with two zombies and getting different mobs as they progress, or maybe they just get choice mobs to start with. The mobs with follow the necro and assist in fighting, getting stronger the more kills they, or the host, gets, getting more health, region, strength, speed, etc (with a cap of course). Another idea for that is that the necro gets "points" for every kill and can invest that into the mob using some sort of book or item. Any player the host attacks will become the mobs' priority target. The necro also has a redstone torch that acts as a sort of beacon, calling mobs to them or placing them in that spot to guard. Necro, I think, would still have basic gear with the mob-healing sword, but give it sharpness I or something due to the lack of pickaxe. This form of necro would require more of an active gameplay, and to have the user be more invested into their mobs.

    Load out

    Old Armor

    1: Mob healing sword-Unbreaking X, sharpness I
    2: 4 steak
    3: Tome of the Undead (spell casting on mobs)
    4: Zombie: Basic run-of-the-mill guys, basic every stat
    5: Skeleton (unlocked after 3 kills): Faster, but hit less hard
    6: Spider (unlocked after 7 kills) : Hit harder with poison, but are slower and have less health
    7: Zombie Pigman (unlocked after 15 kills): Fast and strong, but very low health
    8: Torch "Mob beacon"
    9: Compass

    also, mobs do not die upon death and can still kill,
    When a mob is killed in combat and replaced, you can use a point to "restore effects"
    When the necro is killed, points reset, unless you have a remaining mob which you must find and heal. Once healed, points will be restored.
    Mobs unlocked will remain unlocked for the rest of the game
    3 points are allowed in each category: Speed, strength, health, and regen

    This definitely isn't a perfect rework, but it would very much encourage active gameplay and I think would be a lot more fun to play. I also hope that this comes with improved mob AI. I definitely think that necro deserves a rework.

    Tl:dr:
    a) you are a rude and/or apathetic person
    b) more active necro with choice 2 following mobs that you can give upgrades to and they help you fight.

    These are more of just ideas being thrown around. There definitely needs to be a limit as to what you switch to and how many mobs there are to switch to. I don't like idea of switching to either endermen (3 blocks tall) or mobs that are 1 block tall.

    I also know what you're talking about. This was an old Necro rework idea posted by WiKi_KiKi about 2 years ago I believe. It's a shame no one ever got around to implementing as I remember it being a popular idea among the community. Sucks there isn't a way to dig it up anymore.

    I agree, that is a very great idea for turning into mobs because necro is quite a forgotten class, I don't see many people using it.

    I think that they should put Necro back. They nerfed it and destroyed it and I think its ridiculous. It used to be a fun class to play to either mess around or get some kills but honestly it really is the most pointless class.
    I remember back in 2013 when it went from zombies to skeletons and then eventually got to blazes. It was alittle challenging at times but I think it was cool. Yea people got good kill streaks but I believe it was a very cool class.

    Either PUT IT BACK THE WAY IT WAS or get rid of it entirely because it is the most pointless class ever.

    Now imagine if as a creeper Necro could shoot out baby creepers that make tiny little explosions that do no damage but knock people away

    *gets nerfed a month later*
