Three overrated words

And here are the 2016 awards for the three most overused and overrated words on McPvP/Brawl, presented by yours truly. I've come across these words over the past few years, and frankly it's annoying to see them getting used and reused so many times, often ripping them completely out of their original context. Note that this is entirely based off own opinion, you might be absolutely fine with them yourself. Without further ado..


#1: "broken"
This word is often used to describe the state of a CTF class when it excels at one part of gameplay, also known as being "overpowered" compared to other classes. No, a class is not broken when it is overpowered. Broken means a class is doing something it is not supposed to do. A bug if you will. Engineers climbing walls makes it broken. Elf with infinite arrows makes it broken. Assassin having an instakill ability does not make it broken. People use this word to emphasize their point that the class needs tweaking, and to make others that don't know as much about CTF agree with them (as 'broken' commonly means 'a condition that is not wanted and requires a fix as soon as possible').

#2: "mature"
Can't recall to have ever seen this one on McPvP, but it is all the more present on Brawl. This word is not used out of context, as it correctly describes a person that is considerate of their actions and does not act like a nine year old that giggles over butt jokes or uses an excessive amount of emoticons to express just how amusing they found it. However, there are so many people using this in appeals or applications, it is not even funny.

An example: "I should be unbanned, because two months have passed since my ban and I have extremely matured since then, and I won't hack again because its unfair to the people who dont hack." You don't mature in two months. You don't even mature in a year or two, and actually there are plenty of grown-ups that have not yet matured since their childhood either. You can't define how long it takes to mature, because it is different for every person. In general, you have matured if people stop getting annoyed of you, and when you realise how embarrassing you were. Sadly, you won't realise this until you matured.

#3: "spam"
Pot spam, egg spam, web spam, arrow spam, spell spam, wall climb spam, click spam, steak spam, spam spam. Basically nothing you couldn't call spamming. It describes an action that is repeated over and over, which leads to a general annoyance amongst the others. Like 'broken' though, it is overused, especially in CTF and CTF team matches, to make it sound negative. They are all a form of spamming your mouse button, but frankly most of them are the legit way the class is played (Disclaimer: Potspamming and respawning to spam your items are excluded from this reasoning). Of course ninjas would throw multiple eggs at once to increase the chance of hitting their target. Of course soldiers right click in rapid succession to climb walls. Of course mages keep clicking to use their spells, because that's the way the class is supposed to be played. This is not a game of "I don't want to make people mad, so I will click a bit slower on my mouse button to fire spells". If it is unbalanced is another story.
