CTF Off-Topic [Or stop moving our threads]

Considering brawl they'll continue to move things to Off-Topic with things saying "We didn't know it was for all of CTF" "That applies to everyone" etc.

No, CTFers can't really talk about Off-Topic subjects on the CTF Subforum because the Subforum is made for subjects regarding Capture The Flag. Off-Topic discussion is meant to be in the proper Subforum. It's extremely self centered and elitist to request a new forum for CTFers only when there is already a global subforum that fulfills the purposes needed already.

 

When someone calls you 'self centered and elitist' for wanting an off topic sub-forum:

 

Admiral, do you only use memes.

10$ meme will be used in reply.

 

can we also have a ctf circlejerk section where we can talk about wool and kits

 

Wanting an Off Topic Subforum is fine and all, but asking for one specifically for the CTF community because (quoting the original post) "Lots of CTF regulars are familiar with one another, and would much prefer to talk with each other rather than to a bunch of strangers with whom our community was forcibly merged." is a prime sign of elitism.

So? It's no skin off my nose if you want to be hyper-judgmental and take the purpose of this thread way out of context. This thread is basically advocating for what I see as a casual section in CTF where people (CTF'ers) who are familiar with one another can have discussions without having them be thrown into sections (i.e. Literature) where the intended audience is far less likely to read them.

It's perfectly understandable, in my view, for members of a certain community, to want to talk to other members of their community because especially in CTF most people know one another. This not about saying that CTF'ers are superior to Brawl players, however the topic post was phrased, or that Brawl players are stupid or what have you, but it is to say that maybe we should be able to casually talk to each other on the forums on things not strictly pertaining to CTF. It could be constructed as the foundations for a social clique, but it is hardly elitist.

 

Agreed

You can talk about things in not pertaining to CTF as of now, people are just not willing to accept the fact that Off Topic posts are supposed to be in Off Topic. Using Off-Topic for CTF related things isn't absurd either, as the CTF community is one of the most active communities. Assimilation of the Off-Topic section to the CTFers circlejerk would be easy.

 

In another words, let's be anti-social to other brawlers!

Ratings are (or were) a part of checking if somebody was modworthy, so Off Topic posting would alter the representation ratings would have on the applicant

 

u can just sh1tpost on any other forum though, there's no difference

bad memes get more positive ratings than actually constructive posts
