    Hello,

I feel like I should be posting threads every evening, it provides for some serious entertainment.

How, would you think, is a class' worth or strength defined?
By the potential it has (following this logic, old chemist would've been ridiculously OP and elf is just fine)?
Or rather by the average player using it (notice that most chemists didn't stand a large chance versus a good ninja, elf needs a serious buff)?
Or is it a mixture of how new players use it, how regulars use it and how very experienced players use it? Does one have to differentiate use in skill level?

This question is very important in the discussion of whether to buff or nerf a class, in the discussion of balancing as it is the way to figure out how well it does.

The strength of the class is basically putting all of the above into one and throwing that into every scenario possible.

I think the strength of a class is defined by how well it can fit into its' intended role (defense, offense, mid, support)

could there also be something involved about the true potential of a class with someone who truly knows how to use the class behind it

The strength of a class depends on which hacks you're using at the time.

Your examples are pretty good, so I'll combine a couple of yours. I'd say it's a mixture of the full potential of the class (the wildest and most skillful uses the creators can imagine, i.e. elf always landing shots and behind used to cap, one of which came true) and the ability of the average player of the class. The latter MUST be tested in-game; the class must be subject changes or even removal (with full refunds), while the community is aware of this policy so there's that much less complaining.

    Also:
This should also be heavily considered, 'cause we know what happened to ninja.

Strength is in the hands of the beholder. A classes strength is defined by how well someone uses it. Although there is a class or two that is weak no matter who uses it, *cough* necro *cough*.

Its' ability to piss other players off.
If it's a cause of serious hatred, it's strong.

I haven't seen a lot of hate towards mages. Probably because archers and engineers attract the most hate.

EDIT: Sorry, I thought this was another thread. What I said is completely irrelevant to this thread

Archers been getting a lot more hate recently, dwarf has as well, but thats because of nerfs and assassin able to be blocked.

Archer is a ranged assassin, but easier to dodge since most archers miss the first shot, but just in case, never go in a straight line.

Dwarf is the tankiest class and hardest to kill if it can block fast enough.

engineer is definitely the most annoying because it just places turret and cake and hides.

    Thats basically it
