Engineer is about controlling an area, not getting cheap kills; don't you think? Also, although Engineer became fairly balanced since its last rework, the skill cap was still somewhat low compared to most other classes. The major cause to these problems is that Engineer is simply too well-rounded. I intend to fix all of these problems at the same time with this one...simple...rework.

Reference: Turret currently deals 1/2 knockback and 3.5 hearts of damage.
    Color Coding: Green=Buff; Red=Nerf; Blue=Unchanged

    ____________________________________________________________________________________
    • Automatic turret deals less damage (1.5 hearts total), but normal knockback is added.
      • Players will take less damage overall when approaching the turret. However, approaching the turret will take longer. The turret and engineer will be vulnerable to range classes and high-damage classes in this state.
    • Manual turret deals more damage (4 hearts total), but there is no knockback.
      • Engineers will be able to deal more damage using manual mode, but players will be able to approach the turret and engineer more easily. The turret and engineer will be vulnerable to speedy classes and high-armor classes in this state.
    • The diamond pickaxe (automatic mode) deals the same damage (approx. 3 hearts including the sharpness I) but only normal knockback (knockback I enchant removed).
      • Having a knockback I pickaxe and a knockback-dealing automatic turret at the same time would be OP, so I removed knockback I from the pickaxe.
    • The wood sword (manual mode) deals the same damage (2 hearts), but more knockback (added knockback I enchant).
      • Having a low-knockback sword and a no-knockback manual turret at the same time would be UP, so I added knockback I to the sword.
    • The Regenerator and Teleporters are fine as is.
      • Considering nerfing regenerator and then un-nerfing Auto-turret damage (1.5 hearts brought back to 2 hearts). Until I make up my mind, fine as is.
    ____________________________________________________________________________________

Hope the rework turned out all right! Let me know what you think in the chat.

I don't think this is really helpful, 2 hearts is still a lot, and like neyen said, cake shouldn't be able to be spamclicked.

U said that cake and teleporters r ok. I am fine with regen it's the teleporters that piss me off. People bring 2 engi's with a teleporter that leads too Opposing teams flag room and one that leads too their flag room. Could we find a way 2 fix that by Putting a restriction or sum ****?

    Good Work @Alturia10 L0lerz

Decreasing the damage of the automatic mode and increasing the damage of the manual mode sounds like a great idea.

First of all, Automatic Turret damage has been nerfed to 1.5 hearts.
    ____________________________________________________________________________

    ~/10.

I just nerfed the Automatic Turret damage, which means players will take little damage approaching the engineer (although it'll take a little while). Ninja v Engineer strategies and Assassin v Engineer strategies are buffed since they are fast enough to avoid some shots and can take 3 times more damage (before was 3-shot kill to ninja, now is 7 shot; imagine what it would be like for mage and pyro).

Regarding the Manual Turret, although it does deal high damage, it'll likely be only to 1 or 2 players; and players will have a very easy time approaching the engineer. This encourages more "siege" Engineer strategies

Against the automatic turret, range/high damage players can kill an engineer fairly easily. Against the manual turret, speedy/high armor players (especially heavy) can kill an engineer fairly easily. Considering this, the regenerator becomes fairly balanced.

If you disagree, perhaps I could un-nerf the automatic turret (bring it back to 2 hearts) and make it so that cake doesn't douse fire? That would be a significant nerf, and Pyro v Engineer strategies would flourish.

Well that's just teamwork, my friend. You can't really stop two engineers placing structures near each other (unless you increased distance between structures, but that would be a band-aid fix). I'll let you know if I can think of any ways to fix it, though; but for now, I'm labeling it fine as is.

I think the turret should deal more damage, however double the rate of fire.

Considering that the turret doesn't really do much damage now (1.25 hearts to mage, 1.175 hearts to pyro, 0.39 hearts to heavy), and lower-armor classes can kill the engineer more effectively (ninja, mage, pyro, assassin, etc.), I would say the kb doesn't really make Engineer overpowered. However, I could probably find a way to make it so that auto-turret doesn't have knockback.

Wouldn't that be a buff...? I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic...

considering you take 0 damage if you right-click your cake even once and take no more than three auto shots versus a ninja at the moment, I don't see how the turret should be underpowered or engineer vulnerable to lower-armor classes in any way.

Please no, the knockback changes you propose make it worse.

Teleporters and turret definitely need a rework and I think the rest are ok.

    Teleporters:

I think they could work on a levelling system that engis can charge, similar to TF2. This makes it harder for them to set up, and making them less of a problem.

    Turrets:
Exactly as you said, except automatic has no knockback, and manual has normal knockback

I'll take your comments into consideration for my next engie rework (which will probably come out by the end of the month), but please don't necro post (or whatever that's called). It's not good for the forums.

This makes Ninja and Assassin (easy ways to take out engi) die slower. Ninja would die within 7 hits, and if the Ninja knows what he/she is doing, they can take care of the engi swiftly. Also, Heavys take forever to die.
