I’ve seen a lot of posts going about on how engineers are hard to beat alone or even with teamwork, and I believe some don’t have some stuff clear on how the engineer works and how you take them out. Even if the communication is bad in your team try to get someone to go archer or just ask an archer to help you out, call for a medic to lend you a hand. It ain’t that hard, you just have to try.
This thread will be covering the engineer’s skill level, based on how engineers take care of their stuff and so, which classes are mostly recommended to use agaisnt engineers, both alone and with teamwork.

    Engineer’s skill level:

1: Only uses manual override, doesn’t repair his/her turret, doesn’t build TPs, stands on sight/doesn’t block, barely uses the restore station.

2: Hides behind turret, sometimes repairs his/her turret, uses steaks more than his/her restore station, sets down turret as a distraction to escape, sets up teleporters.

3: Fights alongside his/her turret, repairs his/her turret often, relies more on the restore station than on the steaks, blocks assassinations and stand out of sight, also sets down turret as a distraction to escape, sets up teleporters on sneaky places.

Classes’ viability to take down Engineers:

Heavy: Medium to high DPS and high armor points are perfect for taking down engineers, but as heavy is not a fast class, you may have a hard time chasing down the engineers that run from you. It’s better to use heavy in tight areas. Heavy is better at destroying the buildings than killing the engineer so you may want to use some teamwork if it gets too hard for you.

Medic: Low DPS but can hold a lot of incoming damage. Its cowebs can be really useful for stunning the engineer and blocking out the turret’s arrows. Medic’s big healthpool and regeneration make it a good choice when it comes to destroying buildings. Level 1 are easy, level 2s take a bit longer to get rid of and level 3s require a lot of patience and skill. Any medic combo (with a medium armor class) agaisnt engineers is good enough.

Soldier: Between Medic and Heavy’s viability. Can take out engineers that are located at high places by throwing them off a cliff. You can also use soldier to take out any teleporter entrances you may find.

Archer: Long range and headshot are the best way to take down engineers without risking too much. Archer can also knock engineers away from their turret to let teammates take care of him. Level 1 and 2 engineers are easily taken out while level 3s may require more skill and/or teamwork, like lurking them out of their cover.

Assassin: This one is one of the most viable classes besides Archer. Little to no armor makes it hard for you to get close to the Engineer without getting killed by the turret. Luckily you have Speed 3 to help you out. The Assassination can take out any engineer most of the time. Level 1 and 2 engineers are the easiest while the level 3s require good timing and tactics (Timing the turret’s fire rate to use your redstone at the correct time, trying to not take much damage BEFORE getting to the engineer). Sometimes engineers may not block and will let the turret do the dirty work for them in fear of leaving the turret vulnerable while they’re dealing with you.

Pyro: Low armor makes it really vulnerable agaisnt turrets, but its diamond axe is just right for taking out turrets. Pyro’s True damage ability and Fire Frenzy are the best way to take out the engineer. Try to lure the engineer away from his/her Restore Station, or destroy it, because the RS can extingish Pyro’s flames, making it impossible to kill the Engineer. Level 1 and 2 Engineer are no problem, unless you don’t know how to play Pyro properly, but the level 3s are going to be a nightmare to fight agaisnt.

Chemist: Same as Heavy. Has a higher advantage when chasing down an engineer (Slowness and poison potions along with strenght/speed). It can be a little hard to take down turrets.

Mage: Its low armor is compensated by its high health regeneration (Healing spell). Can easily freeze turrets to concentrate its damage on the engineer and can easily knock the engineer away from its buildings with the Lightning Spell or even knock him/her off a cliff. Level 1 and 2 engineers are easily taken care of while level 3s require teamwork .

Elf: It can put out a good amount of damage and take a fair enough amount too. The Wind Element can really help you in knocking away the engineer and getting close to them too. You may use the Earth Element to stop the Engineers from escaping. The Water Element can be used to gain some small resistance and the Pure Element is the best choice to take Engineers from afar (Note that you have to aim nearly perfect if you want to kill the Engineer quick). Finally, your Reflect Spell can offer a good distraction for the turret, it may not always reflect the arrows though.

Engineer: Knoback diamond pickaxe and the pickaxe itself. Pickaxe for obvious reasons and the Knockback enchantment it has on it to knock engineers away from their turret. Level 1 and 2 are a piece of cake :smile:D) while level 3 may be a little harder.

Necro: It’s like Soldier’s armor with Medic’s steak and a pickaxe. Nuff said.

Ninja: This one is probably the hardest class to use when taking out engineers. The only thing you can do (Pretty much like Assassin) is kill the engineer. This may only work agaisnt level 1 engineers since level 2 and 3s have a higher chance of them killing you than you killing them. Use it when you know the engineer won’t except you to come as ninja and take him out. Alternatively, you can buy your team some time by destroying the teleporters.

    Dwarf: /gl
    Fashionista: lol wut.

By looking at this list we can divide each class to a specific role:

Taking out turret/buildings/distraction: Necro, Engineer, Pyro, Heavy, Medic (/Class combos) , Soldier, Chemist, Mage, Elf.
Killing the Engineer: Archer, Assassin, Pyro, Chemist, Buffed Heavy, Medic (/Class combos), Elf, Ninja.
Stunning the Engineer: Mage, Elf, Medic, Chemist.

The three basic things you have to keep in mind about engineers is this:

Turret: Main source of Engineer’s DPS and distraction.
Restore Sation: Main source of Engineer’s health.
Teleporter: “Enemy spawner” and escape method.

Without the turret the engineer is pretty much screwed and vulnerable to high damage classes (Ninja, Chemist, Mage, etc.). This is your #1 priority.
Without the restore station the engineer won’t survive for long and it’s one of the easiest buildings to destroy. If the engineer relies too much on it, take it out, even more if you’re playing Pyro or Chemist because the engineer can get rid of fire/status effects by eating the cake. The cake is a #1 priority too but as you can easily destroy it’s better to destroy it when the engineer relies too much on it.
Without the teleporter entrance/exit, no enemies will be able to come and aid the engineer. It will also distract the engineer if he/she wants to set it back up. The entrance is more important than the exit because if you destroy the exit the engineer can set it back up with no problem, while destroying the entrance will completely halt the enemy arrival completely. The most recommended classes for this task are Soldier, Elf and Ninja. You can use any other but these ones can avoid enemy fire with ease.

If you’re gonna fight an engineer try to get your teammates to help you out. You can’t always take out an engineer on your own but if you can, good for you.

I hope this helped you out and have a good day.

If you were a bit less annoying I wouldn't have posted it. jk
That's one of the solutions. Another one is having an archer camp the teleporter, if it's in an open area of course. If that doesn't work out you can always have a 2 heavy/medic combo and take everything out (you can also go pyro to clear an entire room/area/terrain).
Just remember to take out the teleporter entrance when you have the chance.

Awesome guide! I agree with everything you've said! I'm a pretty good at engineer. Skill level 3 best describes how I play.

There is a chance you'll get killed by a turret arrow right after you kill the engineer.

imo Pyro is the most effective level 3 remover. Axe can remove turrets, relatively easy to get frenzy with so many people; only problem is how weak its armor is. Archer is also effective on maps like Blackout.

Personally, I feel like a fancy dinner is the best option, however, a trip to the movies always gets good results!
