My opinion of CTF (and why I'm leaving)

I have been here for....a long while. About 4 years, to be precise. I've seen many changes happen, nerfs and buffs, new people coming in and old ones leaving. I'll speak about my opinion on what's happened first, and then do my "Going away" speech after. (I'll still get on every once in a while, like once a month or something).

CTF, in it's current state, is fun....to a point. Firstly, the player cap. I approve of having a large player cap, the more the merrier. However it does get a little frustrating when I, a person who is the type to look objectively at the current situation decides "I have to cap because no one else is". This by itself isn't the frustrating part. I love capping. It's an amazing feeling to go in to the heart of the enemy side, get the flag, run away with pursuers on your heels, and capture with half a heart left. But the frustrating part is when I go into the flagroom I see 2 pyros, 3 ninjas, a dwarf, 2 medics, a chemist and a heavy. This doesn't happen every game, but that's 10 people. Especially when (assuming the chemist buffed everyone) 3 of them can practically one shot you, 3 will most likely chase you if you get out, and 2 (possibly 3) will heal any damage you happen to do. This is a minor problem I have with the game which will never be fixed because "Limiting the amount of classes each team has takes fun away". I understand this, just erks me.

Secondly, I'm not enjoying any of the new maps, and some of the old maps are getting stale. (rearrange "stale" and you'll get the definition of the Underworld.) I'm not saying any of the new maps are bad, it's just they seem....boring. Another problem I have with the maps is the requirement for symmetricality. I know this is "for balance purposes" but I would enjoy a map where Red's side is an underground cave and Blue's is a forest rather than what feels like reskins of a standard rectangle. But, I know this will never happen neither. But maybe I should stop saying things won't happen, because we never thoughtwool would get changed for banners, right? (I'm sorry, just the obligatory banner joke)

The classes seem okay to me, except some of the obvious ones. (insert dwarf hate here)

The community is still okay I guess, except some people who just flame for no reason. I don't know much about the forums on MCPVP since I started getting into them about half a year before it shutdown. (insert rant about glory days).

One last problem I have, and this won't get fixed either because it's a problem with new or selfish players. If I have the flag, and you walk out of spawn, see me, calling for medic, and continue walking, you are a complete ***. There is no reason for a person who has just walked out of spawn to not switch to medic for literally 15 seconds to heal the flag carrier, the person keeping the game alive. If you're on a 37 killstreak, I'd say "GO ON LORD CHAOS! GO! ONNNNNNNNN!". Also, I'd appreciate it if newer players actually looked at what the classes (insert obligatory "IT'S NOT KIT IT'S CLASSES" rant here. but tbh it's classes not kits.) did instead of just going medic and ignoring the other team while the aimlessly run around the map.

Well. That's my opinion of CTF. Now for the goodbyes.

I started playing in 2012. It was awesome. I didn't know servers like it existed, such an awesome game but such a small community. But, I kinda liked the small community factor. It made it so it was easy to get to know people. You'd hop on once, talk to some people, and then you'd meet again the next day. After a couple years and a month break or 2, I joined my first competitive team. Crimson something. I know it had crimson in the name. They merged with the Plebian Scum I believe and then I left. I wasn't really interested in competitive, I just enjoyed playing. Then, @Erran asked me if I would like to join The Elites. I accepted. It was new to me, speaking with all the players I'd seen and conversed with in the game on a regular basis. We played a couple matches. I really quite enjoyed them. They were much better than pubs. Everyone on my team and theirs had roles to fill, and each person was at least better than average at their role. It proposed a challenge I had yet to experience in standard games. Then, it happened. MCPVP shutdown, and we merged with Brawl. After a while The Elites disbanded. It was really quite heart breaking, the first time I'd ever been a part of something like that was taken away. A lot of the members who were regulars stopped playing, and just like that, I was back to where I was before. After a month or 2 (I can't remember your name, I'm sorry. I know I knew you but then you also left CTF.) someone recruited me into Majestic. I played half a match, and became a seasonal member. At this time is when I started to drift away from CTF. Maybe it's because I'm in high school now and I'm busier, but the unfortunate truth is most likely that it stopped being enjoyable to me. I'm the kind of person that will get bored of things very quickly. I get bored just being away from a computer. The fact that I was able to stay interested in it this long is a nice surprise, but it's probably due to the people I've met (and by met I mean spoken with in the game and on the forums) like ES, my assassin buddy, Mich, the soldier who was always a step better than me, Winter, one of the nicest players you'll ever meet, and that's not just because she has to be nice since she's a mod, blackfurrykitty, the chemist who angered me the most. The list goes on and on. Geez, I didn't think I'd almost break down in tears reminiscing the players and good times in the game. No, wait, not almost. I'm actually crying now. I haven't cried in like 6 years. I want to type the last few sentences but every time I try to press a key I start crying again.
