Catering to everyone's opinion isn't going to happen due to conflict of interest, and while it would be nice for the coders to focus on CTF a little more and come out with more updates, they do listen to what we have to say, and they update it at a reasonable pace considering they have several other servers to work on.

But Democracy means no war declarations. Sure we'll get a 50% boost to science and economy but we can't declare war.

I hope someone gets the reference

welp here is my opinion on Democracy, nope.
Most of the community is uninformed on many situations and as many philosophers (like Socrates) would say, the uninformed should not be able to make decisions in government.
This is where oligarchy comes in. Oligarchy puts the hard decisions up to knowledgeable people.
This might be a bit sad to people like you who have dreams of being a revolutionary speaking out against oligarchies but ask yourself this, do you really want uneducated, short term goal based people running a server that hosts hundreds of people. Probably not right, unless you are one of the uneducated types, then you are probably like 'heck ya i wanna be mod man.'

So... I want you to think again and let the staff do their jobs.

First off - you know Socrates, I love you. Mind you though, Plato put all of that down, we don't know if Socrates said all of that. According to Socrates though, the perfect guardian of the state (meaning the perfect politician) is the philosopher (see dialogue with Glaukon, I forgot where x.x)
Why? Because he is unbiased and thinks reflectively. Notice by the way that according to Socrates, there is no knowledgeable person^^ if he had the choice, he'd call the working class most knowledgeable because they don't pretend to know things they don't.

Is Brawl's staff really the modt unbiased and most knowledgeable person for the job? Once again, instakills were screwed over by a player with 4 hours of CTF time and 0 game participation. Although the mods surely are experienced, even if they have a say they aren't the *best* for the job. Which is where a representative democracy would come into play, providing for a well-informed council that is able to make decisions well.

Also recall this game cannot be broken like a state can. Reverting changes is a thing here, apart from that - as long as the majority of people are happy (which is the case in a democracy), it doesn't matter how broken the game is (unless the discussion is utterly polarised).

Back during MCPVP, there was this thing called a "vote-based commitee", reminiscent of the Senate or Congress.
On Brawl, I say we should have a 3-party system: Newer players, experienced veterans (e.g. @Stormneo @Mattyz_ or me for HG) and moderators/coders. This means that everyone has the chance to represent the community. Every party should have 4-5 members, and a vote should be held in 2 ways:
    1) The item is put on vote
2)after which a discussion leads to a secons vote.
    What do you think?

At one point in McPvP, there was a skype chat for HG players to discuss HG and help with improvement. It would be a good idea to do this again since the staff actually look at the HG forums like once every year. A skype chat would really help us HG players communicate and interact with staff about the game and what can be changed and/or improved. I recall this being suggested back a while ago, but @BlueGuyARed did make the point about how some players may get upset about not getting invited to join this group over other players. However I think people would understand that this is for the greater good of the gamemode, and it would still be easy for players who aren't in the group to communicate ideas via players who are in the group. I believe that a step in the right direction for HG would be to really get some HG players' voices to be heard.

    I agree.
I have to be brutally honest; I hardly see any mods on HG ATM. Either they aren't active, or they are in wrong timezone for us EUs. Thereby we need more EU representatives.

Democracy doesn't work only because people are naturally selfish and self centered. In theory democracy is a great thing. It's only just exploited by the well known... But great idea regardless.

That's a very general statement. Would you mind elaborating how selfishness is a bigger problem in a democracy than in an aristocracy? As you said, people are naturally selfish and self-centered. How would this not apply to a few people like it does to all of them?
