Well I'm turning 18 like next week (May 8th, screw you @Miskey for being 5 days older than me), so good 'nuff :I I'm going to be majoring in Mechanical Engineering next Fall

Oh and hopefully (if I'm accepted) I'll be working beach rentals over the summer at a nice Inn and Club c:

Edit: oh @Comm since I did all that application stuff this year, I'll give you some stuff to go on cx Fill the applications out and submit them as early as possible, make sure you list all the awesome stuff you do outside of school (volunteer work, sports, etc). Early bird has at least a better chance of getting the worm xP

Also make sure you take both ACT and SAT then focus on taking the one that you did better on/liked more (unless it's too late now). I highly suggest you get an SAT/ACT practice book and maybe get some tutoring for those, cuz like a 28+ ACT score or like a 1800-1900+ SAT score will greatly increase your chances of being accepted, especially if you have a par-subpar GPA :I

Oh and don't be one of those noobs who applies to a school just because it's a good school. Make sure you like the schools you apply to. #1 dropout reason for students is because they felt like they didn't fit in and just didn't like it there.

As for actually being in college (getting this info from my sister + college tours), just take advantage of all the opportunities they give you. Whether it's tutoring for your classes (which everyone should do tbh), intramural sports, clubs, whatever, just take advantage of as much as you can. College is about learning for your future career, but it's also supposed to be the "golden years." Like @Xelasi don't get TOO caught up in the college hype, but do enjoy it to some extent, I guess x3

With all of that stuff done, keep everything (papers and letters, SAT/ACT/AP test scores, resume, account passwords and all that stuff) in a notebook. Really helps if you have everything organized for each college you apply to.

As a 17 year old that's about to graduate high school, I think I qualify to post my goals for college. Borderline, but i make it into the cut.
Basically photography and acoustic engineering (musical acoustics.) I love playing with cameras and headphones/speakers. If you ever have me in a Skype chat, we can talk about audio for hours from target frequency response curves to tube amps and magic unicorn tear infused cryogenic cables and if they make a difference (they do, just not what people expect them to, simplified answer.)
Photography is something new I'm getting into but something I want to master. I've definitely had fun photographing California's precious landscapes.

For those people who are not yet seniors in high school, I strongly suggest to finish much of the college stuff before senior year starts. Finish your act/sat tests before the end of 11th, and do ur college essay in the summer, so the only thing u have left for 12th is individual college essays. Make sure you get your recommendations as early as possible.
During senior year u start 2 feel lazy and if you're taking tons of AP classes or IB like I did, then you don't want to juggle that and doing essays and SAT/ACT at the same time.

So, again, finish everything early. Don't procrastinate too much and your life will be much happier.

You should look up Walter Lewin's MIT physics lectures on harmonics and waves n such. Not sure if you have to pay for them though; my physics teacher just shows them to us in class sometimes. :stuck_out_tongue:

In all seriousness I'm hoping to be accepted into a University for a BBA (bachelor's in businesses administration) but my odds aren't super high so...

If anything, college business for a while. My goal is to own my own company.

I was actually a commercial music major, which encompassed production, performance, and business. So I got to study sound design and perform in ensembles. And I'm a classical bassoonist.

finishing school (hopefully? :stuck_out_tongue: ) in less than two months and having no clear idea of what to do next.
doing the mandatory service my country wants me, well, forces me to do is definitely the thing filling up the next year, but afterwards?
Going to university? Well, to be honest I don't know yet. And if, which study2study?
Just choosing the thing which appeals the most to you may lead to having less chances at findig a job. (or at the very least shrinking many options)
Currently considering studying music, history, media studies, german philology and sociology.
Will have to choose two of them and a third, minor one.
