Idea [Class Concept] Spellmaster (need a new name)

    Class Idea: Spellmaster
    Open to new names.

    This is a draft. Details are still being worked out.

    This is my first thread on a new class idea. I have little knowledge on what is OP, so suggestions are welcome.

    NOTE: This class uses 1.9 items. I know Brawl is 1.8 and 1.9 compatible, so it wouldn’t work. This is really for the fun and experience of coming up with a new class idea. I do not really expect this to become an actual class.



    Armor-

    Leather Helmet

    Gold Chestplate

    Leather Pants

    Gold Boots


    No steak (heal with your bow)

    Gold Sword


    Abilities-

    You have different bows that will each shoot different potions. They are:


    Heal Bow

    Regeneration Bow

    Slowness Bow

    Instant Damage Bow


    When you shoot each bow, 1 of 2 things will happen, depending on where the arrow lands.

    1. If the arrow hits a person, that person will get the corresponding potion effect of your bow.

    2. If the arrow hits the ground, the arrow will spawn a lingering potion of the corresponding potion effect.


    However, you can damage your allies and heal your enemies, so have careful aim.

    Seems like a hybrid of Elf and Chemist. You didn't mention the potion's tier, radius, or duration.
    The slow damage output, mixed with it's terrible armor, sword and assumingly slow regen makes this class in-creditably under powered and generally not needed as a support class when Medic and Chemist or a mid-fielder/capper class like Elf does it's job so much better

    Damage your enemies? One player can sabotage the other team by switching and spamming de-buff bows, or trolls being
    dicks.
    In general, this was not a well thought out class and is not needed.

    This doesn't sit right with me. The class is called "spellmaster" yet I don't really see what this has to do with that many spells. The theme of the class seems too close to mage, and the actual abilities seem a bit like a long range chemist. I don't really see this class providing any role not already provided for either. Good try, but I think you need to work on this a fair bit

    I'd suggest something totally different from "spellmaster". This is just because we've already distinguished they're different in the game: Spells tend to come from hoes, and they're not really centered on potion effects, as we see chemist (although the heal spell is an exception). Elf does need fixing because currently, it doesn't really have a particular aim in mind in my eyes. Maybe you could work this into something unique to fix it?

    Couldn't have said it better myself. When Elf first came out, I felt that it was also a bit too much like mage (elemental attacks). That being said, this class is like Elf too. I actually had an idea to somewhat implement this into the "Archer" class by the Chemist using a splash potion on the archer, making a few of their arrows potion tipped. It's a good idea, its just imitating too much.

    Yes, I agree. I have tried to think of a way to change it, but it will be too similar to Chemist.

    the problem is when you do this you lose the simplicity aspect of archer. Free classes were always meant to be basic. Relatively quick to get the basic grasp of the class. Donator classes were always the trickier ones to get used to. Adding potion arrows makes it unecessarily complex. With that said, it might be interesting to see what would happen with elf if this was how it was redone

    Marksman should be the title. I like the concept, but it does not have a specific role to play in ctf. I think archer can handle the potion arrows from here.
