Really? I've seen worse insults thrown around on the Hive. I play on the Hive sometimes. My favorite games are Hide and Seek, Trouble in Mineville, and the Herobrine.

@Gehenna_Beam mineplex ctf is not that bad. Just you need to take time to edit the builds and reading up on the abilities.

You should try warlords on Hypixel. It is confusing at first, but it is very intense. (It has ctf mode in it btw)

Man I hate their CTF. None of the games have a tutorial on how to play or anything like that, just the name. Stupid.

I don't really hate on MineStrike even do it's really garbage. I just play it to see my luck and how my expirience in that game is compared with others.

As for CTF... I think its pure garbage. I prefer Brawl's CTF anytime then Mineplex CTF

Also I do have to note as in previous posts I actually play sometimes Mineplex, I am not sure why, probably mind-controlled or somethin.. idk, and for me the Mineplex community is sometimes really getting on my nerves, so in short I prefer Brawl anyday over Mineplex.

Imo CTF in general is an extremely flawed game mode by design. I don't even like Brawl/MCPvP CTF, and I'm only really still here because of nostalgia and the PvP system being kinda fun (Yeah, I'm one of those guys).

It's very hard to build a fun, accessible, and balanced form of CTF. It's a very polarizing game mode: The objective (flag) creates an over-centralization on camping flag rooms while you have some kind of attempt to sneak in and get a lucky flag steal.

Let's look at TF2. There are 6 main popular modes that attention from developers of the game: Control Point, Attack/Defense, Payload (I consider Payload Race to be a kind of gimmick gamemode since there haven't been new maps in years), King of the Hill, and Capture the Flag. In the competitive community, guess which one isn't played. If you guessed CTF, then you have basic reading comprehension skills and the answer should've been obvious from my rant. CTF is only played on casual servers, where most players just kill each other instead of capturing flags anyway.

Personally, I think Mineplex's CTF is flawed in ways that are different from Brawl's flaws. The respawn system and the regenerating flag thing (I haven't played Mineplex's CTF but I think I know what it's supposed to be. Someone please inform me how it works) are actually steps in the right direction when creating a CTF gamemode.

They put an emphasis and bias towards the attacking team. Offense, for the vast majority of people, is more interesting than Defense. It's dynamic: You bypass all of your opponent's defenses and run away with the flag, your enemies chasing behind hopelessly as you secure victory. Sounds a whole lot more exciting than: I crouched next to the flag and hit a Ninja who appeared in front of me (personally I have issues with Ninja as well, but that's a discussion for another day). Just look at CTF Team Matches. The games often run toward the 20 minute timer, resulting in a tie or a victory for the team that had one more capture. A well-executed defense is almost impossible to bypass, and it shows.

Mineplex puts a bigger emphasis on offense with those two attributes (the slowness is BS though I admit). Because of this, if someone grabs the flag, it's going to be difficult to get it back. While you may think: "Won't that cause more people to camp flag rooms?", think about how CTF's flag room defense meta works. Often, players will grab hold of the flag. It's just that they get immediately slaughtered after grabbing it. It's kinda like recovery, except only 5 feet away from the flag post.

When the flag doesn't immediately reset its position upon being touched by a recovering player, that gives the attacking team a chance to inch it over a little more. And a little more. Eventually, they can get it into an open space and escape. Plus, with respawn timers (ones that work based off of distance from your flag are quite interesting. I think I talked about that in another post I made months ago when I was actually active), defenders you kill will take a long time to come back, giving the surviving attackers an opening.

The game becomes focused on running in and capturing, rather than staying still and camping. Games will go faster, yes. A poorly organized defense is going to get absolutely steam rolled. There'll be incentive to attack flag rooms as a team, rather than camping flag rooms as a team.

What defense does remain will be more focused on stopping enemies from getting into the flag room. Recovery will still be important. Capturing will before more of an inevitability rather than an objective you have to complete. The real task becomes who can capture FASTER. Recovery will allow you to slow your opponent's progress. You killed their capping Ninja, and it's true that their Soldier is only seconds away, ready to take the dropped flag. However, those seconds can give your team time to make a capture of their own.

Personally my opinion on CTF is that it's a flawed gamemode concept. If I was running Brawl, and money wasn't an issue (of course, in real life we have to accept that Brawl is a company and they need to prioritize $$$), one of my objectives would be to add new gamemodes to CTF (and probably change its name lol). But CTF is CTF, and we have to live with what we've got. I'd say Mineplex CTF's main flaw is the classes (I've been told they're the same as Domination's, which are convoluted, perk based, and poorly kitted for proper CTF gameplay).

I like Brawl CTF more than Mineplex CTF, but I think both have issues, at the core, and on the surface, with things they can learn from each other.
