A lot of new players will play their first CTF game, not know what to do really, get to the end of the game and then just randomly do /y or /n (by clicking the inventory GUI that pops up). Issue is, the vast majority of new players seem to just play for a day or so then leave. This kinda messes up the /y and /n statistics IMO, as the votes players who first and last played a year ago will still decide whether or not maps are removed, which doesn't really make sense.

My suggestion is that if you haven't played a certain map in over a month, your /y or /n vote on a map is removed, to keep the stats more up to date, and hopefully make these votes more accurate for when the mods remove a map in each wave.

literally half the people who have replied to this didn't even read the actual thread, and even made a huge-ass response to some random idea which has nothing to do with this... please actually read the thread before you waste your time responding

but what then happens when nobody votes? Anarchy, thats what. Any modern system should always rely on writings from the past, how else could we progress?? :grinning:

    EDIT: this post isn't serious

While this idea may be good in some regards, the /y and /n system is still open to much inaccuracy. Many players may say they don't like the map purely because they died too many times, or their team lost etc. However this idea does balance this slightly, but won't make a huge difference IMO. If they haven't played the map in over a month, they still have to play 1 game with it in order to get the voting GUI, and 1 game is enough to judge a map.

Voting needs to be based off of everyone's statistics in order to be completely fair. Keep in mind that the multitudes of votes average out. A lot of new players also don't vote. Most press e because they don't know what the poll really is. I don't understand what you're saying, then.

Did you uh, even read the thread? In no way, shape or form will this mean you won't be able to vote on new maps for a month, no idea where you got that from.
I disagree, I think the voting should be an accurate representation of what the general community (which includes both regulars and new players) think about the maps, even if it isn't necessarily fair. And it'd still be based off of everyone's statistics, just only if they play actively.

but this doesnt fix anything because new people can still vote after the game because they **have** played that map in the past month

I disagree with this because I think that some randies/new players do have the capability to vote with a valid opinion. The new players may not know how to play the game exactly, but the question "Did you like this map?" and press Green Wool for Yes and Red Wool for No isn't exactly a hard concept. If they've played on the map for about at least 10 minutes, they can generally get a good idea about how they feel about that map.

I'm saying this from personal experience and what others think too. Whenever I go to play a mineplex minigame for the first time, or when I first played skywars, it was pretty easy for me, and I'm sure anyone else, to form an opinion about the map I just played. This can also be said for CTF and almost anything else.

Now, one argument that I do recognize, is that these people who are new will not be voting on the particular gameplay the map has to offer, and most of the time they'll probably vote on how they feel about the map aesthetically. However I do find that aesthetics of a map is a valid thing to vote for, I'm not saying it's the most important thing, but I just think you can down vote a map because it's ugly.

Another argument is that there are still some people that are just going to not understand/ vote without an opinion. And to that, I have no counter-argument. There are still going to be some new people that will mindlessly press yes or no. That is just fact. However a majority of 10 year olds (because that is minecraft's target audience), can make a valid vote the first time around, because as much as we hate 10 year olds, they're not all retarded.

TL;DR: Randies can still make valid votes because they're not retarded.
