Uncensor Gay

Here comes the argument of "oh it's used as an insult therefore keep it censored!!!1!1!11"

 

Because we can't have nice things. Few that ruin it for everybody by using words as insults, brawl takes justice by censoring these words so we can't use them as insults. Damn is even censored yet these words aren't even that bad (some yes but damn really?).
Bad apples man, they're everywhere.

 

I have no idea why gay would be censored really. Brawl at the time didn't think this so through since if someone were to keep calling someone these harmful words, they could report it but since there is no actual in-game message to say 'Hey, you can report people for...', barely any people know about the /report since there's hardly any reminder.
But yes, I agree with you that some words like 'gay' that is censored is silly.

Well, in my opinion people follow that up with more insults, by using curse words, and those should be censored. I myself am 100% against homosexuality (I won't follow up with why, don't want to take this into a moral argument :V). Gay also means happy so... ye. I will just refer to what @SoCool21 said.

 

I agree, gay should be uncensored, but this is a very small issue. The staff have their hands full with creating EULA compliant things.

 

Small issues should be easy to fix then

 

You can use /chatreport instead of reporting, with chat report it sends a history of what that player had said, I'm not 100% sure that's accurate, unlike just doing /report where staff member can't see what that player has said previously

 

True, some players in this thread are confused between the difference of /chatreport and /report. Imo, /report is hackers and /chatreport for chat ( makes sense ).

 

You could've made a fine post without including this. It literally adds nothing whatsoever.

 

I added it in to basically add that I'm balancing sides and knowing that whilst I don't like it at all, my decision is not biased.

Here is my thoughts on this.

Gay is a word that can be used as something offensives. Of course, it has two meanings. One that is used to hurt people, and another a title. Here is the thing though, there is not many instances were you need to let other people know that you are gay. I mean, I'm sure it happens but most of the time people just use it to offend people.

Usually, my role on censoring is look at the age group. Generally, the forums has a older age group than in game. At least, in build a large bit of the playerbase is under 10. Next, we look at the word. The word that we are looking at is gay, again. In Minecraft, I come after very few instances were I need to use gay. Unless, (This is my next part) I want to insult someone.

As SoCool said, people get offended very easily. I don't, coming from McPvP, but other people do. The word 'gay' is used as an insult more than the other definition (In Minecraft at least). So far we have came to this.

• We are in a kids game.
• Gay can be used as an insult.
• In Minecraft you don't use gay a lot in a good way.

What is really the argument here? There is reason why gay is censored.
