Should an elytra class be added?

Probably not. Or it least not in the distant future. A lot of players still use 1.8...

 

Only if it doesn't mess with balancing.

Nice idea! I'd like to see people fly around with their Elytra's ;P

But no, it won't be balanced and it'd be pretty op on some maps.

 

Classes that were added to the game with the actual intention of fixing it have turned out horribly for the whole of CTF. The worst thing we can do is add in new classes just for the heck of keeping up with Minecraft versions.

Well, glide. You can fly forever if you spam yourself with a bow.

 

Oh okay thanks, nah dont add it. Its not Minecraft Capture the Flag then. Once you add stuff like this you accept the fact that its not minecraft anymore. Its future craft now.

 

The problem I see with this is 1.9 removed blocking and the way you counter assassin is through blocking.

Examples of some maps where you could get across pretty much the entire map with an elytra:
Castle Cavern (you can probably figure it out easily)
Serpent's Lair (jump off the flagroom roof, go down one of the sides, success)
Academy (take the sponge that takes you to mid from spawn, elytra from the building you land on to the mid building, run to the sponge on the other side that takes you onto the roof of the side hallway, run a bit, elytra from there to the side of the flagroom)
Castle (Glide from the top of the castle to the entrance of the other castle)

Yeah, those were a few examples of Elytra OPness.

 

This would make blackout/whiteout not even fun anymore

 

I don't think adding this would be a good idea. Like most of the people above have said (except @AriesRam10 'cause he's completely clueless), adding the elytra to a class would make that class incredibly difficult to catch of they had the flag.

You missed my point. The Elytra class will need a way to counter assassinate if it is added since blocking was removed

How was Kat meant to know you were referencing blocking as Elytra, when all you talked about is blocking in general?

Next time at least properly word your post so it has something to do with the actual thread.
