Ref Rank CTF

Why would mods with no coder experience have access to the brawl code? That doesn't make sense at all. And I said it after that post, we were told we cannot do single server permission. We asked, they denied, that's it. Not to be rude or anything, but do I have to keep repeating this?

I'm just saying from a semi-decent coder stance, It should definitely be possible. I mean for example - Why don't I have permission to do /ninja in the hub? It's a command in which is ONLY for ctf. Even though I buy /ninja, doesn't mean I can use it MCParty. Just update the CTF code to have a command, in which, only people with the permission can use the command. Something like /ref or something. If the issue is that you can't set/have permissions, use a config file to have specific names in a List. You could call the file Referees. When calling the command /ref it should check for that permission. That's how I'd do it, but again I'm not the best coder out there, but it also doesn't seem like a hard task to do. I'm sure there are tons of other methods out there that would be simpler and much more efficient. I also haven't coded in months so I kind of forgot a few things xD

They've asked, admins have said no. There's no further need to discuss this.

Ok the one thing I don't get is everyone has been asking the mods to add this for a long time and they have said no but that hasn't stopped anyone from asking, now that its been shifted to the admins for saying no why don't we just ask them and at least get a response from them as to why we cannot have a ref rank and if the problem they have with it is not set in stone we can find a solution instead of giving up or aimlessly asking.

Coudent they just add a Ref rank? I mean.. What would be the difference between that and the Builder rank? I see none, each is special for a curtain game-mode..

 

I honestly do not know why I'm bothering to reply to this, but,

While Builder is moreso for Build specifically, it is still a global rank.

What a Ref rank would imply is having a specific rank for a specific server, not even really a public one, and letting regular individuals have it. Yeah it'd be nice to have extra people to ref, but as @Quarrelt said, they've asked and have been denied, I'm not saying we should just drop the discussion altogether, but at least acknowledge that she said it instead of blatantly being ignorant.

I also disagree, I dont think I blatantly ignored her at all. I simply asked a question to better understand the situation so I could help more. Its not like I was telling her shes wrong and she should just beg for the rank for us.

 

I'm asking again to see if I can get a clear answer. Who knows, last time we asked it was early in the merge, so maybe now that we've been here for a while we can change it - perhaps our code has been updated idk. But if I get an answer I'll let you know what they&the other CTF mods have to say about the matter. Technically being able to do it is different than our committee team backing it, ofc.

 

You literally said "Couldn't they just add a ref rank" after Quar has said multiple times they've asked and have been denied, meaning they cannot add it. That right there is blatant ignorance.

Builder is a global rank and I honestly do not know why, but it's never come up before and quite frankly does not matter.

Ref rank would not need to be global, that'd serve no purpose whatsoever.

I still disagree, thats still a question that hasent been answered. They said they were denied being able to make it. That dosent mean they cannot add it, it means they wont let them. Its a difference, or in my head it is. (Plus is was more of a build up to the latter part)

This part, actuay kinda upset me. Its pretty hypocritical... "I honestly dont know why" the definition of ignorance is lack of knowledge or information. You are showing that you dont know why builder is global but you are accepting it. And judging by your loyatal of Quar is blindly because the mobs and admins have it that way.
And if you want me to go a little further "but it's never come up before and quite frankly does not matter" I disagree with this too. If it dident matter because it haddent come up literaly nothing would happen. Think about it, how does change happen if its never came up before? It woudent matter.. Just dosent make sence to me.

But I digress, back to the point.

Maybe, but does Builder? Thesis are just questions I want answered to better understand this situation. Why is Builder global and why cant Ref? Just some questions.

 

The mods can't do things like add ranks without Administrative permission, and seeing as the admins said no, they can't. If you can't understand that I'm wasting my time.

My best guess as to why Builder is global rank is because it's closer to a staff rank. (@November feel free to comment xd)

An even better example is the blacklist that is ONLY on the match servers, not on normal servers.

 

Well since quar said that the staff would be more open to alternative suggestions, maybe make alternative suggestions? I think we could take a few simple steps before convincing any admins that a ref rank is worth the effort of implementing, rather than continuously bashing a present lost cause? I had in mind a sort of set up system for the match server. Specifically on the match server there would be a voting system that goes through a map selecting process thrice. Maps with the most votes each time will be set on the current match server. Sure, you will still need a ref for officials but like I said, steps. Unofficials would go on without any help and moderators would have one less thing to worry about with setting up matches. The biggest flaw with this is the sure amount of people who would joke around when voting maps, which would probably be more frustrating than not having a mod set up for them. This idea wasn't perfected and I spent minimal time making it, I just wanted to shine a new light on the subject.
