So I realised recently that nerfing assassin is a tough job. Because any possible nerfs change assassin too much too keep it as the fast paced, high-risk high-reward class.

Thus, I also realised that buffing classes is a better way to improve classes because it doesn't change the signature best part of classes (like previously mentioned assassin and archers snipe and stealth factor), while breathing new light onto best classes.

So here's a challenge, how would you buff any class (try your best to buff the less obvious ones)

I honestly think changes are better than nerfs or buffs. If you hard nerf or hard buff a class you have to compensate by making changes to further balance it.

But a change either nerfs it or buffs it?

I agree that "buffing" is the better option of the two. First of all, when considering the owners of a nerfed class, I think it's unfair that those players have to become forcibly accustomed to new playstyles. If we assume that there's going to be balance in either paradigm (buffs or nerfs), I'd want to feel jubilance rather than disappointment. More importantly though, CTF's signature fast-paced gameplay has eroded over the introduction of certain nerfs. I think that's what makes CTF particularly unique - the game shouldn't turn into a battle of which side has more Medic teams.

Albeit this is personal, I would want Engineer's regenerator to be able to replenish items again. I don't have anything against Medics, but it plays too large of a role.

I agree that we should buff classes and fix some issues(i.e ghost capping). I wouldnt mind engineers cake being like it used to be. Pyro needs to be buffed again to counter the heavy armor classes, especially chemists. Etc

You know, I've played a lot of CTF. And I've seen that after the more recent nerfs, Most chemists have dropped off the map, while Ninjas, heavies, and soldiers increase. Pyro and dwarf are less integral to defense and in turn are less thought of as required with defense. Only hardcore support medics ever play it unless they are switching to flag camp, and even then its not very good anymore. Then again, Elf, who got buffed decently, still has very little players who use it; although that might be a difference in difficulty, not that its a bad class. So IMO, Buffs are better, but changes are the best of the bunch.

Have you been in a game where a pyro cant kill a chemist even when using frenzy and 5 people around the mage, also soldiers just escaping. Pyros instakill was a necessary evil because it forced people to have to work together, now one chemist can basically just walk in and get away with flag.

You must not be on a ton, because I see chemists escape from a 10+ person flag 90-97% of the time

A change that basically makes the gameplay different than what it was. So that each player can interpret it different based on their playstyle.

Here's how to make CTF more enjoyable:
Step one: scorch the f*ckin earth that it stands upon and salt the ground so as to prevent it from ever resurging.

Step two: rebuild the entire game from the ground up, beginning with 14 new classes that are all specifically built around the mechanics of the other classes and removing instantkills / heals entirely.

Step 3: build new maps by having the map makers be a group of players who have played every new class at least 3 times each so as to have a balanced build with a lessened risk of single-class OP ness

Step four:???? Some magic sh*t to bring back a yuuuuge playerbase

    Step five: profit

And finally, the secret step 6: stop dreaming, realize CTF is bad, and go play a better game.

Give necro the much needed attention (like making the spawners actually useful)

the zombies need more power or you should be able to buff them
than the necro would have its power back
