    Hello... I just started playing ctf again after a long break, and the server is almost completely different than when I left. I like some changed but not others but that is not the point of this thread. This isn't really a class idea as much of just something I was thinking would be cool; it may be over powered I just was wondering what everyone else's thoughts on it were. My idea is land mines and remote bombs. Land minds would be a stone button or pressure plate you would place on the ground and when someone stepped on it an explosion would occur that would do some damage (maybe also blow them into the air so they take fall damage not sure on this part though) The remote bombs would just be a skull with a tnt skin (if that makes sense) and would be placed on a wall and the player who placed it would have a lever and when they right clicked it in his/her inventory the bomb would detonate. The place-able objects would have the same restriction as all other place-able objects they could not be placed to close to the flag or spawn. Thanks for reading!

    This is a good idea for a base for a class. Of course, the placement of these items would have to be heavily regulated like Engineer's items.

    I'm not too sure about land mines. They'd be very powerful, and it'd end up being like engineer when its a block that's killing everyone, rather than the actual player. All you'd need to do is know all the best places to place them, and there'd be no more player intervention needed. Remote bombs would be interesting though, but I'm not too sure if they'd fit into CTF. It could be very frustrating to get blown up and killed by something when you wouldn't expect it, especially when its not actually a player that kills you directly, like it would be with assassin or archer.

    I think @jctownsend told me an idea similar to this for a new class, while also using a music note count down for the bombs. I really like it. :>

    Maybe there should be an ability where enemies can destroy these items.

    So basically archer :/ but I see what you mean but you would be able to see the remote bomb. Thinking of that gave me a weird idea for necro... Necro could be given an "egg" and have to place it and (lmao) sit on it crouching to make it hatch and 3 - 5 baby zombies come out when it hatches.

    I dont know where it came form lmao I was just thinking about the bomb exploding then I decided instead of doing damage baby zombies should spawn then it was instantly a necro item

    Replace engi turrets with something that does knockback but no damage? and give engi stealth mines to kill ninjas + other things. Engi rework boom

    Hey id like to see a seperate explosive splash class, i mean most classes other than maybe chemist cant control a group well id love to see a trap class that tricks its opponents and makes them even more cautious there could even be traps in the flagroom

    Mage can control a group pretty well as long as nobody is behind them, then they just straight up die.

    Tbh, 4 classes can easily out dps their hps with their heal spell. Ninja, heavy, chemist, dwarf. Plus it is very easy to strafe everything except lightning since everything else fires in straight line and even then it sometimes doesnt register(looking at you freeze spell and fire spell.), plus lightning is basically mages rngesus because lightning can send someone 1 block to sending them 20 blocks in the air killing them with fall damage.

    It is easy to play mage but hard to master. Mages die more then most classes, due to their melee difficulty and no blocking ability for assassins, and they can get swarmed very easily. I'm not saying mage is fair and not op. Its op in specific scenarios and complete garbage in others. I'm one of the few mages that can mage cap because i freeze the pyro/dwarves and lightning away the ninjas, and melee killing assassins.

    The only classes I have trouble with are ninjas and assassins, its much harder to hit them than other classes, and only a few times do I ever get the hit off on assassins before I'm killed. Especially if the assassin comes while I'm busy with some scrub who thinks they can go toe to toe with a mage as archer or heavy. I've also noticed that lightning isn't exactly reliable when it comes to hitting players too. Direct hits are a waste of time as they deal a whopping 0 damage and kb, while hitting them with the AOE is like you said, RNgesus, sometimes it'll barely move the player, sometimes it sends them flying, sometimes it launches them right at you, which when you'd normally use it (to get people away from you to heal) can be a death sentence is it doesn't kill.

    Yes, and ninjas enderpearls literally are the bane to lightning that does work. Yea, assassins are annoying as well, thats why i kill any. Heavies are an issue because if they pin you to something you are screwed 9.5/10 times.

    Finally someone agrees with me on mage.

    for heavys i go melee on them, with my funny pvp style im able to deal a lot more knockback and it also sort of allows me to use the damage spell in sort of a melee way
    But yeah mage has its weaknesses and abilities though i feel its infinite health pool leads to an issue with its survivability i mean its still easy enough to outdamage but i feel there could be different health methods like maybe an arcane barrier similar to elfs barrier or just a splash potion of instant health and regen 1-2

    Tbh, ive said that a 3-5 second cooldown instant potion(dont have to drop it, just right click) that full heals would be better so mage doesnt seem to be godlike when its regen is on. Plus you get healed quicker
