Idea Assassin rework (with 1.9's features)

    Hey everyone! CTF will soon update to 1.9, and so Assassin needs to be changed. Therefore, I made this rework with some of 1.9's features for Assassin.

    Assassin currently is a very important part of the gameplay. Taking it out or nerfing it to the point it's useless will turn the game around completely, making some classes more overpowered and some less. Therefore, in this rework I tried to remove instakill while still keeping Assassin strong.
    Iron Helmet
    Golden Boots (Enchanted Frost Walker II)
    1st spot: Iron Sword.
    2nd spot: Redstone dust (named Assassinate):
    • After 4-5 hits with the Iron Sword, your XP bar fills up.
    • To activate, right click once the XP bar is full. This will swap to your sword, like in the current Assassin.
    • For the next 2.5 seconds, your sword deals 4.5 hearts of true damage, as well as gives out no knockback - meaning your opponents don't fly away from you.
    • After activating Assassinate, you take 2 hearts of damage more than normal. (This means that if you are hit with an iron sword, which is normally 3 hearts, you take 5 hearts of damage instead of 3.)
    • Once the 2.5 seconds are over, there is a 4 second cooldown before you can start collecting XP again.
    • While in Assassinate mode, you take no fall damage (just like the current Assassin).
    • One kill = 3 hearts healed.
    3rd spot: 8x Egg (named "Marker"):
    • Once the opponent is hit with the egg, they are given the Glowing effect for 8 seconds. (This means they are visible through walls for everyone. I'm not sure if it's possible to code it so only the team of the Assassin can see the glowing effect, and not the target's teammates. If it is, do it like that.
    4th spot: 2x Sugar (named Speed boost):
    • Works the same as the current Assassin, regenerates at the same rate as well.
    5th Spot: Bow
    6th Spot: 4x Arrow of Poison [Poison II for 2 seconds] (named "Poisonous dart"):
    • Does not recharge (only by Medic)
    • 1 second cooldown after one shot to prevent spamming.
    7th spot: Nothing
    8th spot: Compass
    9th spot: Help book

    Edit: forgot to mention one thing. While I think current Assassin is a lot harder than most people think, I made this a bit harder. I feel like now, there would be a lot more skill with Assassin after this rework.

    Seems good, a bit technical but pretty easy to do overall. I think Assassin would get a bit more OP though.

    Good rework but the bow is not needed. I feel like the cooldown that stops you from filling up your exp bar should be 4 seconds because its pretty hard to get 4-5 hits.

    I agree with @sportyman56 especially when you're up against a heavy or Mage type class, it is a bit hard to get 4-5 hits without dying. The bow would take away from the old assassin being a combat kit than rather a ranged class. Other else then that, I like the ideas you put up even though I hate 1.9, since I want to see assassin rework as well

    Also, using this site you can calculate how much damage would a class take. Example:
    Imagining that in 2.5 seconds you are able to hit atleast 6 times, and every hit is 4.5.
    4.5x6 = 27. A full Iron armor reduces the damage taken by 60%. 60% out 27 is 16.20. So theoretically, in about 6 hits an Assassin would be able to kill a Soldier, if they did not steak of course.

    This makes Assassin a strong class that it is now, but also with the added damage taken while in Assassinate mode, Assassin is quite vulnerable.

    This would make assassin a much more interesting class to play as, and would be more interesting than just having to sit behind a wall and assassinate. +1 for creativity

    However, I think a few fixes can be made from this, mainly I'm concerned about the damage values. It's very similar to the way pyro frenzy works at the moment, which deals 7 hearts of true damage if I'm not mistaken to anyone on fire. Since assassin doesn't need people to be on fire to instant kill it makes sense to lower the amount of true damage to 5-6 but then again, 7 hearts of true damage would be better imo, simply because it will be less difficult to kill a target as a newer player (losing 7 hearts is steakable anyway if you're quick enough, and it still is weaker than instakills).
    Also, AFAIK weakness weakens your damage output, so applying weakness II whilst having assassinate would mean you'd be doing 2-3 hearts of true damage instead of 5-6. I think it's better to apply poison I instead, assassin would be dealing a lot of damage but will be easily killable to compensate (just like ninja)

    Regarding the eggs and bow- good idea, but I feel like it would just make assassin overloaded in its kit like elf is. Why not just make a bow that 'marks' a target whilst they are getting poison II? The arrow count could increase to 5 then instead of 4 w/o regenerating, would make it a much simpler kit and less items in your inventory.

    Change the glowing effect into a glowstone dust tbh, you can probably code it so it throws like eggs.

    Huge +1. The only thing I'd like to see is changing the bow to give either blindness (which may be too similar to ninja eggs) or slowness). Other than that, I see no issues with this.

    Very good ideas, thank you. I did not realize that's what Weakness does, I'm gonna change that real quick. I feel like the damage values are good as they are now - as I said in my post:
    Meaning it is quite strong as it is now.
    For the combining of the bow and the egg, I still think that Assassin needs this to stay split. It would widen the skill cap of Assassin, and also would lead to some interesting teamwork/cooperation ideas, such as using the glow effect and then using an Archer to get the flagcarrier.

    I've already changed the cooldown time to the same time @sportyman56 suggested.

    agree with this, maybe it does 8 hearts true damage when you hit from behind? but 5 true damage with assassinate on

    I mean, if you think about it keeping as many abilities on a class as possible will just make it more overloaded and more of a pain to use. If i dare say so, the skill cap would already be widened by the fact that you got 4 shots available that don't regenerate without a medic, keeping them different abilities would be more tedious work. Besides, I don't think many people would be bothered that much about being marked unless they were to receive a debuff of some sorts such as slowness or poison, which is what the arrow does, meaning that it would emphasise the point of trying not to get marked besides just being visible to all players. As long as assassin has no instakill, I can definitely say it already is more skilled to play, and then again there are also the randee players that enjoy playing the widely hated class as well, making it more difficult for them would just make it less fun to play

    CTF is already playable in 1.9 nerd

    Edited the weakness part, that was a mistake on my part.

    Good point. Maybe have the eggs not just give out Glowing, but also Weakness, while keeping the bow and poison? I think that would work. It may seem like I'm a bit obsessed with the bow, but I think it would really be a viable weapon to use, given that it does give out poison II for 2 seconds and you only have 4 shots.

    I like the concept aside from the eggs and poison arrows. Having two classes that throw eggs, but do two different things is very confusing. As far as the bow goes, it doesn't really fit the concept of an assassin style of gameplay.
