Banning?

The autoban system we have is pretty good in my opinion, but sometimes a glitch will cause people to get autobanned. Some players i.e. Quin (previously a JMOD) figured out a way to intentionally trigger an autoban. So just saying, there are some things that can occur that may trigger an autoban-- in which aren't necessarily called hacks.

That has to be something that changed recently, because there are protocols for bans. SurvivalPvP probably has the most complex protocols because there are specific requirements players must hit before a mod can ban them + Mods have to check a lot of things around the player to form conclusions. Typically at least 2 mods are involved for questionable bans.

 

Brawl was never originally intended to be a pvp server. Sure it's improved its pvp gamemodes like Kit Brawl and CTF but its mods were never meant to be specialising in hacks like MCPVP was. If you can remember the difference between MCPVP applications and Brawl applications, MCPVP had an entire 'exam' ,if you will, of unlisted yt videos for mod applicants to decide which videos are hacks and which aren't.

That being said, it is natural for Brawl mods to make mistakes, especially james' recent case on lnjured, hell it even caught former mcpvp mods off guard, because it was a trick that is not common to see, especially on a mediocre pvp server like brawl.

Seriously, don't expect the most extreme legitimate pvp cases to be known by brawl mods. Their criteria don't fit this, HOWEVER that does not mean Brawl mods should get away with clearly telling between hacks and no hacks, as those are crucial if you're going to be moderating a server regardless, even if you required minimal knowledge of them.

 

I doubt it :/ i recently got falsebanned for autosoup when all the mod had was a simple recording. I was unbanned the next day

I honestly don't know how you could get falsebanned for AutoSoup- it's either happening or it's not... There's no in-between. I guess some of them just don't know what they're looking for nowadays...

 

It was me that had banned lnjured. However, I didn't act automatically and I didn't make a hasty judgement. I got the report while moderating kitpvp, so I joined and took a closer look. Immediately upon entering, I saw that lnjured was going to be autobanned, so I cancelled it and tp'ed to take a closer look. I noticed what appeared to be the player hitting entities to the direct side of him or behind him. After he was about to be autobanned a second time, I cancelled once more and continued to observe. After determining the player was using what appeared to be a hacked client, I banned the account. I realize I made a mistake, but it was an honest mistake that wasn't done through stupidity or immaturity. I legitimately thought they were hacking, and I apologize for that. I understand it was a false ban and it was my fault for banning an innocent person, but I can honestly say that it is very rare that I make a mistake while banning, so please forgive the mistake. I only wanted what was best for the server.

 

Staff don't have to record literally every hacker lol the obvious BHopping ones with FF and everything don't need to be recorded exactly unless you want to. But the sketchy people should be watched carefully (They never are lol) and those "legit" bans you say staff mostly get, are all mostly from the extremely obvious hackers that everyone and their grandmas can spot.

Can't the mods or the staff members receive training because they have now more pvp servers? I mean its not like everyone in the staff team do not know about hacks, but just the people that are a bit iffy on hacks and how to detect them. The mods can then take a test by using the way that the mods were tested on MCPVP (given randoms videos of players in-game and the applicants are supposed to determine which one of the players are hacking) It is like a recertification test you know, and if they fail it doesnt mean that they have to be removed from staff. They just have to try again (until they succeed) and while this happen the staff (lower staff) dont lose any of their powers and responsibilities. Just a suggestion. There might be some flaws but this can solve a lot of the problems.




You have to get to the root of the problem in order to solve it. In this case its the mods' (not all again) lack of experience with hacks and that is what causes false bans and such. If there are some coders free, they can fix the autoban system. Everyone knows its broken, but it will stay broken until someone fixes it. I am not referring to the CTF situation on the updates coming late because thats a CTF problem that only benefits the CTFers. The autoban system however, is a server-wide problem, therefore, its more urgent. Why? Because is people keep getting false banned by the autoban system and the mods themselves, then those players will get angry and leave the server, and this creates a cycle that only results in loss of money and in the end, Brawl declaring bankruptcy.

it's okay I have 3 perm bans, 2 on my main and 1 on an alt xd

and I can't forget the time where a bunch of mods AND a dev false banned my dude epeek xdd

 

Dude the trick he used gets you auto'd in under a minute ( i tried it twice) y are you still insisting

I think not, he's proven he was legitimate period.
