I agree with this 99%. The only part I don't agree with is the fast paced gameplay which I don't like, I'm a very laid back and chill guy so I don't do well under situation where there's a lot of pressure. (the reason why I quick drop when I queue up against some agro ****)

Playing agro gives both players a disadvantage, not just you. Less time to react means worse aim/pot management for the agro player as well. Don't hate on agro players

I've recently been playing a little Minecraft after a long break, yet, not CTF. Regardless, I started thinking about CTF, because I can't help but recognize the squandered potential this game has. But as it stands now, CTF is a mess. Everyone knows that! The community has been asking for change for literally years, but nothing substantial is done about it. However, the authorities of the server are not the only ones to blame. Most of the "solutions" and "improvements" to the game's problems that are suggested on the forums are exactly the opposite of what they're meant to be. They're band-aids. A new class, for example, is fun at first, and everyone is happy. After that, though, the reality of the situation returns. The only accomplishment is a new class with it's own set of problems. The core issues of the game remain. It's no wonder the authorities here don't listen to the community, otherwise we would have 30 half-baked classes in this game! 13 is too many already.

However, in response to this; the timid server leadership does nothing. They're scared of angering the community. Remember the Paladin idea? What a display of poor leadership from the staff at the time. It seems nothing is different now. Who even authorizes server modifications? Chaploo? Does he even know what is going on?

So what's wrong with the game itself? I'll start with the classes. I stated above that they're "half-baked," or sub-par. And they are, but there's more than that. What seems to make a class more fun? I came up with three characteristics:

1. High damage
2. Low armor
3. High survivability without armor

What do I mean by #3? Things like health potions, speed, Ninja's invisibility, Mage's healing spell, and Elf's wind element. All these things are alternate ways of increasing survivability without armor or steak.
Those three characteristics have been showing up more and more in newer classes and ideas. Pyro, Mage and Elf have all recently been made/remade, and display those characteristics.

The developers have realized that players like fast paced gameplay, and they weren't getting it before. Heavy, medic, soldier, necro, dwarf, you name it, unless it's Chemist, Assassin, Ninja and Archer all the older classes take forever to kill. Playing any one of those classes against any other was boring. Look at it now: Heavy is rarely played except for new players, Medic is strictly objective, same for Soldier, Necro and Dwarf are never played. With Soldier and Medic being boring classes, yet almost required to complete the objective, that makes completing the objective of the game boring. Heavy, Necro, and Dwarf are defense classes. All three are boring. Defense is boring, but yet a key component of the objective.

My conclusion here is this: the objective is boring! CTF is boring! Who wants to play a boring game?

But like I said, the developers realized this, but instead of fixing the current classes, they added new ones to fix the old problems. What fixes the new problems? It's an everlasting loop, and as I said earlier in this post, they're simply band-aids. They postpone the problem for a short time.

My solution: My solution would be to strip CTF down below the foundations. Make armor and damage in classes more balanced. I wouldn't add very many to begin with, I would make sure each class filled one, and only one role. I would also take advantage of the Combat Update to the fullest. Something everyone seems to be very afraid of, but it added the ability to make classes so much more diverse from each other. I would also have maps be smaller. That would direct the gameplay to a more centralized area, thus increasing the pace of the game, which I determined is generally more fun. After all that, just tweaks to finalize the whole experience of "CTF: 2.0."

To conclude, I have to to say that I do not intend to blend Moderators as what I described as "Authorities." I don't know many of the Moderators of today, but I'm sure they care for the state of the game as I do, and would be willing to take some risks for it, unlike the actual decision-makers of CTF which are as I described.

I hope all of you who have read this will take this extreme idea into consideration, and realize that this desperate state of the game requires drastic change.

Wow, you really have strong opinions! I do understand your perspective regarding CTF, but haven't you noticed the basic classes are pretty good too? Like in the games I have been playing for the past few days, it's just constant one-shots from the archers... But yes I do agree with some of your points, like balancing armor and damage. And also, just appreciate that CTF is still here! I used to play when Hardcore Games was very, very popular and when Smash was still a thing. I think it's a fun game in general but there are many details that can cause doubts. And just don't play it if you are unhappy with it. That's about all I can say.
