    So I've recently been playing a lot of Brawl ctf. I've noticed a lack of teamwork and passion for the game. So I will be releasing a few maps I have created a month with lore to encourage teamwork and an rpg sort of feel to ctf, with maps that have meaning, instead of some of the current maps which I find kind of shallow.



    CTF Map Submission


    Map Name: Skyhold

    Lore: The legend of Skyhold will never be forgotten. Long ago, two nations, the blue and the red, fought across a suspended bridge of ice and stone. Bringing an all new meaning to ctf, my map will encourage teamwork, pushing, and strategic maneuvering to first take over the two towers on the bridge, then push towards the castle, and the flag. The spawns are located just inside the castle gate. There are ladders to directly enter the castle in case anyone falls off the bridge and survives, allowing sneak attacks and back stabbing. I plan on revolutionizing Brawl ctf.

    Anticipated Questions:

    Q: But... Only one combat lane?
    A: Yes. Encourages team play, as well as it's fairly easy to sneak through. Also, even though the path is fairly long, there are two towers you can sort of take over on the way, as well as the flags are fairly shallow in the castles, making it around the same distance as our current maps. Once you enter the enemy castle, you can climb up onto the walls and from their the closed battlefield opens up.

    Q: But one combat lane....
    A: You can also always jump off, land in the water and climb up ladders I have placed to get into the castle.

    Put a sponge at the ladders at the bottom to get to the second lower tower

    Ok :smile: I thought about that at first just forgot to add it. I'll probably have to put a few sponges.

    Keep in mind there are staircases inside all the towers to get up as well.

    Honestly it looks great, but my only concern (that I can see through pictures) is that it's way too big and it would take a long time to cross the map. I would atleast put sponges on the castle that go half way across the bridge (or farther) so players can atleast have a headstart.

    There will be/already are a few sponges on the bridge, but keep in mind that I made it be around the same distance as the current open world maps, and the flags are located in the center of the castle courtyards. And thanks!

    You're gonna get a LOT of archer spam at either end of the bridge, it's cool that you're thinking outside the box (and you're a great builder) but I think you need to get a better grasp of the gameplay

    It seems to me that you've taken a lot of inspiration from other games. While that's not inherently bad, you need to consider the gameplay balance of CTF. Big castles and long bridges over valleys make for a pretty magnificent looking map, but there are already multiple large issues regarding classes like Soldier, Archer and Engineer.
    Aesthetically, the map looks great. You might want to work on making the mid look a little smoother, though.
    The biggest issue is the download. As far as I know, maps can only be built on the Build server. When Build was implemented, they stopped using world downloads.
    I really hate saying this bc I know you put in a lot of effort to make this map.

    It's balanced however, there are sponges on the bridges, plus you can cover in the towers. It's a push-pull map.

    I think you will find it turns out well with gameplay. I've considered all the classes and added appropriate close quarters, open and cover area zones where each individual class will shine. For example, one you break past the bridge, archers, engineers and classes like that will be less useful than others. And it would be no problem to provide the map in either schematic form, or as a world in a rar archive.

    There's a very low chance that the map will be accepted when it's not on Minecraft Build.

    I think here are two things that would go well with this map.
    Add another bridge but make this one lower and kind of far away from the other one also have some form of cover that would go well with the design of the map (more on that later)
    Now this is kind of a crazy idea but I think it would be cool to add to the lore that the ground and certain things around it are erupting. Not like a volcano more like being lifted up and floating. basically this effect will only be on one half of the map (the half that you would add the other bridge on) this would add:
    1. Hardcore Parkour! (on floating pieces of the bridge and ground) creating hectic parkour and cover to both the bridge and ground layer.
    2. Cover! floating places will make awesome cover and add a whole cool new element to the game.
    3. Visuals! It will probably look badass
    ye so this is my ideas it might take a little to build run it by nom or someone you could make it like a 2.0 or something of the map is having trouble with balance issues and stuff. ctf needs more cool maps. you could call it like "Skyhold Rising"

    I like this idea! Maybe once nom uploads it I can work on it with community on build server. And yes, I agree, the ctf maps are wayyy to shallow. Lacking teamwork, role play and strategy.

    What would really make this map interesting is an underground secret pathway. That would spice it up. Like behind painting, and then tunnel leads through mid and it ends at the bridge end, then have a stair well to get up then BOOM.

    Highly unlikely. The map looks ok, it lacks detail it certain places but still quite good. The huge walls are way too soldier op, if a soldier gets the flag they can just wallspam on every wall. The terrain is also quite soldier op. Another problem with this is that the bridge has little cover and is the only decent way of getting across. Archers will be having a field day. If players were to go on the terrain beside the bridge, they would get sniped off as there is little to no cover. These are common problems in maps but this map is just on another level like unholy faith.

    You also said that certain maps make players not work together. This isn't true, if you get a nice group of players, they can work together well. Teamwork is more player dependent than map dependent.

    You tried to do what I did with my Shaped By Glaciers Map. The map was Aysemtrcial and consisted for large hills and a huge waterfall with an ocean. Point is, I have learned that making game changing maps isn't what Brawl needs. It you want to make a map like this, first get 3-4 Maps accepted into game play. You'll quickly learn that although the map may look beautiful, it is horrible for gameplay. You have good intentions, but people are not very team oriented. Lots of minecraft players do much better when they roam alone. Teams are for groups of friends who want to play togeather on TS, not strangers in a difficult map who are forced to play with one another. I do like you map, and maybe it can be used in other gamemodes, but not CTF.
