The merciless sun beat down on the prison. The criminals were sweating so much that a few had already slumped to the stone floor unconscious. The other prisoners had attempted to plead with the sheriff guards for a break, but they had been ignored and were sent back out to mine for hours in the burning inferno. Casually the leaders of the bandits started to mine near each other, close enough to talk, but far enough to avoid suspicion. Crystalizations, tr1kim, charlottethegirl, and TwisterPvp all started mining a small pocket of coal. “This is insanity” declared Twister. “There are more than 60 of us mining our lives away all using pickaxes.” Everyone worked in silence for a few minutes before charlottethegirl asked the important question, “What’s the plan?”

“Every day when the clocks hit 6:00 PM, we are escorted back inside the prison where we deposit our picks, and then we go to the dining hall to eat the mush that the guards call food. Once the food has been finished the guards escort us to the showers, and then to bed.” Twister paused for a breath and then continued, “The guards are tired and irritated by 6:00, which we can use to our advantage, and they will be looking for someone to punch.” Twister explained the rest of his plan quickly to the others. The others agreed to the plan, but before the conversation could continue a guard walked over and told them to stop talking and mine more. The rest of the day the four bandit leaders spread the word among the other inmates. At precisely 6:00 in the evening the guards rang the bell and the prisoners were escorted into the mining room, where they were supposed to store their pickaxes. Everyone filed into the room except for two of the inmates who remained in the mining field, the guards had yet to notice. The two were beginning to argue quite loudly, and one of them punched the other in the face. Now the guards’ attentions were drawn and they rushed out to punch their irritation into some low lives.

“Quick” hissed Crystalizations. Everyone began grabbing the pickaxes that they had dropped.

The guards had now beaten the two prisoners into submission. They were about to return to the mining room, when all of a sudden they heard screams and running feet. The eight guards turned around with batons in hand, but it was too late. The bandits all armed with picks, smashed into the guards like a tsunami. The guards had no chance, but they still swung their batons at any face that showed itself. Quickly the guards were killed or knocked out. A few prisoners traded their picks for the guard batons. Tr1kim started yelling words that no one could hear because they were also too busy yelling. With that inspirational speech the hoard of bandits charged into the prison. To elaborate on what occurred would be to grotesque to say. To summarize the events, the bandits killed all who stood in their line of vision. Leaving no guard alive. The head warden was busy composing a letter, when he was interrupted with a bullet.

“C’mon, to the stables!” shouted one of the now freed prisoner. Everyone cheered and was about to charge out to the stables, when they heard the sound of multiple shotguns being cocked. Standing in the bandits way to the stables were tr1kim, charlottethegirl, Crystalizations, and Twister. All of whom had leveled coach guns that they had stolen at the other bandits. Charlottethegirl was the one to speak, “This is just a taste of what freedom really feels like, Follow us and listen to us, and we will give you all of the Wild West!” The bandits cheered loudly. “Now go” she continued, “And grab a gun!” The mob cheered once more and ran to the armory where they grabbed their favorite weapons.

The prison had many permanent prisoners who had been sentenced to life in prison, many of whom rightly deserved it. The four walked down the hall of cells where many of these prisoners were screaming for their freedom. The last cell contained the only quiet person out of everyone, probably because he was trying to sleep. Crystalizations rapped on the cell door and said, “Time for you to leave.” Pyrotheum rolled off his bed grinning widely. “Took you long enough” was all he had to say. Twister pulled out a ring of keys and unlocked the cell. Pyrotheum walked out already feeling much happier.

Out in the stables the 60 or so bandits had gathered and were mounting horses. The four leaders plus Pyrotheum also mounted horses. Tr1kim trotted to the front of the group and yelled, “We ride for Harshaw! Kill everyone who opposes us, but leave the sheriffs to us!” Everyone roared their agreement. “Charge!” yelled Twister. With that the wall of bandits surged in the direction of Harshaw.

“Got any sevens?” asked Deppresso, JadeHouseofNight replied smugly, “Nope, go fish.” Deppresso swore, and drew from the draw pile. Eil was sitting with his feet up at one of the tables that overlooked the town of Harshaw. He lazily flipped a coin, and once it fell he did it again. “Jade, stop moving the table.” Jade looked at Deppresso and said, “I thought it was you.” Eil stood from his seat and said, “Do you feel that?” The ground was rumbling, and now the sound of thunder could be heard.” Jade looked out the window, “Not a cloud in sight.” She reported. The three sheriffs stepped out of the station. “Sandstorm!” cried out Eil. Deppresso quizzically looked at the storm of dust, “It is moving much to fast to be a sandstorm.” The so called dust storm was almost upon the town. A horse came galloping down the street in the opposite direction of the dust storm. A weary messenger was slumped in his saddle with a piece of paper clutched in his hand. Eil took the piece of paper, which was splattered with blood, and read it allowed over the sounds of thunder, “Inmates rioting in halls. Need back up. Guards dead. Hornets.” Everyone froze, and then they all rushed inside the sheriff station, grabbed their guns. It was all too late that they realized that the dust storm was not a real storm, but was the bandits who had escaped from prison.

The bandits charged into town at a full gallop. The air was filled with the roar of gun fire, as the bandits shot into the air. A group of bandits charged into the residential area, while the rest continued down the main street. The Harshaw citizens quickly surrendered to the bandits except for a few people who fired pistols into the mass of bandits, but they were quickly killed. The four leaders and Pyrotheum charged up to the sheriff station, where a gun battle ensued. The sheriffs were greatly outmatched and outgunned. Eil took a bullet to the shoulder, while Deppresso was shot in the stomach. Jade then surrendered on the other two’s behalf. In less than half an hour, the entire town of Harshaw had been taken by the bandits. All resistance had been crushed; the residential homes became the bandit’s homes. Crystalizations ordered the bandits not to rob the bank, but to keep all the money inside it. The four leaders plus Pyrotheum set up their base of operations inside the Harshaw sheriff Headquarters, but not before tying up the other sheriffs and tossing them into the holding cell.

The five leaders, the other four decided Pyrotheum could be one of them, called all the bandits together in front of the train station. Tr1kim decided to lead the cheer this time, “We have taken the great town of Harshaw!” The bandits cheered. “We have taken out the miserable sheriffs!” Another cheer. “And we will not stop until we have control over all the towns!!” The bandits went wild…

I hope you enjoyed the story
As usual the players that I have used in this story are real players, but their action in this does not reflect how they are in real life! Stay tuned for part 3!

The bandits control every part of Harshaw, which includes its mini sheriff station. I believe the next plot point will be a little bit of a surprise when I write it up.
