We Need An SMOD For CTF

I think @b0squet would make a brilliant SMOD for ctf.

 

I would also be glad to make @b0squet a CTF SMOD. He has contributed and tried very hard during his position here. When I was first promoted Jrmoderator he was extremely friendly and helpful. I would actually be quite delighted to have someone responsible on such an important role.

I really do hate to be 'this guy,' but do we really need an SMOD for CTF? Getting an SMOD isn't synonymous for a freepass to complete transparency between staff and community (or even staff with staff) or an updated version of CTF.

Could you explain to me how this would impact us? It's a bit confusing on how you word those sentences, seeing as you talk about CTF lacking a lot, and then you say how an SMOD would impact them a lot, as if you're referring to the CTF Team Committee as opposed to CTF the gamemode.

Just gonna throw this out there, but us mods do stay active while communicating with eachother. There are messages for me to read through everyday in our chat, and there isn't a person in the CTF Team Committee who is "out of the loop," so to speak.

Pretty sure everyone in the CTF Team Committee is an active player, or is active within the community. There's only one Committee person who is not in a team, while the most of us are active when helping set up and ref matches.

Also, there aren't any CTF mods that I know of who are inactive. There are server mods that have mod everywhere, but that doesn't make them specific CTF mods. Also, if they didn't log on CTF for a while and are basically inactive, why should we include them in discussions about present CTF and it's future? Obviously they don't care enough to play it if they have not logged on in a while.

You're right. Just as right as me saying that giving a Nokia a phone case isn't needed, but in many ways it could help. As far as I'm concerned, I don't really see the need to put the responsibility of CTF on one person's shoulders. If anything, it's just the community's way of scapegoating a single committee member to complain about or talk **** about behind their back as to why CTF is not getting updates. Adding in an SMOD would also just be adding in another layer of command, which might further hamper communication.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to an SMOD (if I had to choose, looking at you @b0squet ), but I don't see the use of one right now. I know communication (the main reason why many of you want an SMOD) between community and staff is bad (I've been there too), and I know that sometimes other staff members get mad at the committee for planning stuff by ourselves. These are problems we have to overcome together.

A mentor and friend once told me, "Don't forget that mods are players too." You know why I usually never play with my JMOD tag? (Not because I dislike pink because oHMYGOD YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN THESE PINK FUZZY SOCKS I SAW IN OLD NAVY)
1. I dislike the attention / Hackers would notice it
2. I hold a deep hatred for Hello Kitty
3. I don't want to be looked at like a mod.
At the end of the day, when all the fancy titles and such are stripped away, we're all just players. No matter what rank you are, no matter if you can pvp circles around me or if you can't even left click a sword, no matter if you're JMOD like me or the owner of the server, we're all still players. And it's our job as players to make our gamemode better, no matter how much it may frustrate us that that one stupid mage won't piss off. It's our job to keep thinking up reworks, to keep building maps, to keep suggesting new commands or new ideas, and we do look at them, even if we don't comment. We can't please everybody. There is no difference between me and RandieSlayer69420 who plays engineer next to the flag, because we both want to have fun while playing CTF.

I know communication between Staff and Community is rough; I can't remember a time when it wasn't, but we're taking baby steps to better communication and more transparency between mods and players, or should I say, players and players. Things like the Necro rework with the Public testing and Feedback threads are slowly bridging the gap between us, and with new, super active, and involved moderators like @gamren , @Jul13n , and @Miskey , change is right on our doorstep. But we can't run before we can walk, and right now we're taking baby steps, so I know this is totally cliche, but please be patient with us. We want this gamemode updated just as much as you guys do, because we're players of this gamemode, just like you.

(But yeah totally @b0squet for SMOD if we do happen to get one)
