CTF is Brawl's second most popular server yet it makes very little money. I don't have to be "in" on any staff secrets, and I'm not, to know that. Class sales has always been CTF's primary and most reliable source of income. However, since the EULA that has not been the case. As we all know, classes are now purchased through amounting a huge number of credits (10,000 on first purchase, 30,000 per class thereafter) instead of anything that really benefits the server like more money. Credit boosters are a side source of income but are not and never will be as valuable as directly buying a class yourself.

I've seen a bunch of "EULA friendly" CTF ideas for how to get around this supposed barricade Mojang erected to keep anyone from selling anything other than cosmetics. This does not have to be the case as there is no barricade. Brawl can still sell CTF classes as they previously did, for whatever price they choose, but with a few minor changes. Per this language from the Commercial Useage Guidelines of the Terms and Conditions of the EULA (linked here):

In other words Brawl can sell CTF classes as long as 1) receiving the class must be done in game (see "in game product placement"), 2) doing so does not interfere with ongoing gameplay, and 3) the class must be (more or less) balanced (i.e. a class like Dwarf does "give a user an unfair gameplay advantage whereas Chemist or Necro does not).

    Thoughts?

I spoke to a lawyer friend about this recently. He's agreed that this would apply to most gamemodes (HG,CTF, KitBrawl,War).

How can you receive the product in game? Do you mean like you buy a nether star for a class and when you right click that nether star it gives you that class?

Actually that'd be cool, you can buy a Class Case and it gives you 3 random classes maybe?

Uh, that EULA exert is out of context.

"advertising opportunities, sponsorships, or product placement for 3rd parties"

advertising opportunity - giving information about the product in the form of an article. Usually, a brand pays the publisher for such an article
sponsorship - the position of being a sponsor OR financial support received from a sponsor.
product placement - a practice in which manufacturers of goods or providers of a service gain exposure for their products by paying for them to be featured in movies and television programs.
3rd party - a person or group besides the two primarily involved in a situation, especially a dispute

aka, we can advertise non-Minecraft products from other companies in-game if they don't interfere with gameplay.

Is it possible to buy credits in the brawl store as a sort of exchange, then spend the credits in game? Technically, classes would be bought in game, and just having credits wouldn't give an immediate advantage.

No, you can't sell soft currencies that allow you to buy anything that isn't a cosmetic.

    (holy moly chicken rated me)
I'd still think that selling classes ALONG with buffing the credit earning system and being able to gift credits would be ok, especially if people got more credits than they get now.

So, brawl doesn't sell classes because they give an unfair advantage. But the free classes are just as powerful, if not more. I don't get it.

Maybe there could also be another 'booster' that temporarily unlocks a random class that you don't already have and with that class you will gain 2x the credits you gain using it. The 2x would become 4x if a regular booster is activated.

Someone who may be indirectly involved but is not a principal party to an arrangement, contract, deal, lawsuit, or transaction.

    Source: http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/third-party.html

That third party could be anyone on CTF other than the person who purchased the class as (hypothetically) anyone could access the class.

The EULA also says you cannot "try to make money from anything we've made" yet they dedicate an entire section of the Terms and Service agreement to allowing servers to make money. Mojang's issued a bunch of somewhat contradictory statements like that. It isn't necessarily the "be all end all" of the EULA.
