{Help wanted} Skypeless and Discordless CTF team?

It's extremely hard to have a team that doesn't communicate through discord or Skype. Since for matches communicating vocally is very important. However if you can pull of a team that doesn't need Skype of discord then good job. Maybe use the forum to communicate? Through conversation chat.

 

A team with vocal communication will pretty much always have the drop on you, you can still try but no vocal comms is death

 

I don't think you realise how that extra 2 seconds where you have to type /MD or tell your team where you are can easily make you die whereas if you were using discord, you could probably have survived.

 

A team wouldnt work without any way to communicate except an ingame chat.
1. You have to plan matches with your team, using a program where you can communicate.
2. In matches you will 99,9% lose if you don't communicate

 

That's not the point, that doesn't make communication any better.

 

I like the thought but I just don't see many community members joining since most are allowed Skype/Discord and the ones that don't, probably don't even have a forum account.

Well, everything's impossible until proven possible. So I guess you're just going to have to prove to the world that it's possible.

 

Basically, you're going to end up sucking if you don't use discord or skype. It's hard enough just getting everyone to the match at the right time, let alone actually coordinating together. Teams are full of good players with sometimes difficult strategies. Not coordinating in a call means you either have to do it in chat, which is inferior and risky, or worse not coordinate at all. I'd be frankly amazed if you capped, let alone won.

 

Right, I've given pep talk, now let's actually be realistic.
This is pretty much impossible.
If you want a WAY more do-able thing, make a discord account and join the chat for the sole purpose of filling out the application, but then never use it. You might get demoted to seasonal, but it's better than nothing. And if you keep a lot of attention on the matches subsection of the forums, you can find out when your matches are, and then show up.
That's just me being real. Feel free to ignore this post though and just keep going with your team.

 

I would strongly advise against making a team. u do not have much team experience anyway and history shows that less experienced people founding teams generally does not go well (the teams lose to everyone and are full of inactive members). on top of that u wont use a communication platform so you are just gonna have a really hard time in matches and people arent gonna enjoy it

 

I have to agree with everyone here. If we were to cross reference the groups of people who have a forums account and who were not allowed to have discord / skype, I'm pretty sure we would only find you in the middle. Like everyone else said, the specific group of people you're reaching too is very small.

Also, you say you want to have a fun team (or something along those lines). Playing matches is only 10% of what makes a CTF Team. The other 90% happens in group chats, other servers, and other games. Even though TC is the most active CTF Team match-wise, our Discord is where our activity peaks. We often hit hundreds of messages every day in every channel, and we often watch movies or tv shows together, play different games together, or just talk in calls for the hell of it. If you don't have something like Discord or Skype, I'd find it very difficult to find any good friends or make lasting bonds with the people in your team.

Although your idea is an interesting concept, I find it difficult to think that it would last. Also, how are you able to use an online forums but not Discord? The only difference conceptually is that Discord allows you to join calls where you can physically talk to people.

 

Maybe try and get discord and then join a team for experience? It'll help you realise the advantages of communication )
