    Hey Brawl,
    I had an idea for building ctf maps. We all know that some blocks stop placement, some blocks are spawnblocks, sponges send you somewhere and that coal ore stops soldier climb. I was wondering if we could add a block that stops flag carriers from coming somewhere? That everyone can go there, no matter what team, UNLESS they have the flag. We can make this an iron ore or gold ore block or something. How is this for an idea? Please let me know in the chat! :smile:

    Interesting idea, however, considering that CTF doesn't have an active coder at the moment, and that the command isn't really necessary, I don't think adding it would be beneficial.

    Theres literally no point in this. If you want a place that is only accessible if you don't have the flag just add spawn blocks under it. I do think something like an antihs block or hs restriction sign would be cool so builders don't have to worry about making non headshotable flagrooms.

    There is a use. If you want both teams to get in the same room doing it like that would be almost impossible.. (though it is possible if you make two different entrances which doesnt always work out)

    The only reason you would want this is for some secret room or Easter egg which doesnt change gameplay and therefore isn't important.

    ..? the whole reason this thread is made is so it cant be abused, because abusing would impact the gameplay greatly..

    What I mean is that you can currently do something by placing spawn blocks, it will be annoying for the other team who can't access it but they can just switch. Making a secret room is something that you don't need to do, however making the flagroom unhsable is usually something you should do.

    But the point of this addition is to make it so people wouldn't have to constantly switch. Also, non ranked players can't switch unless it's uneven teams anyway.

    The aim in CTF is to capture the flag, brawl shouldn't spend their time creating tiny things that are only the benefit for players who spend time in the secret rooms. I think everyone would much rather have a dwarf fix or something like that than this.

    Brawl will not be able to physically add a block to the game without everyone having to use a modded client. Attempting to load a tile entity/entity/really any class file that exists on the server side but not on the client side will result in nothing but a crash and an error report consisting of NullPointerExceptions galore. It is simply not possible to do this without the class file of the block loaded on both sides. CTF is functional due to how it is designed. In theory, CTF could be done entirely through command blocks, thus plugins written using the Bukkit API basically are command blocks in the form of Java classes, plus a few extra things like access to an instance of a players entity class directly without having to write an essay of JSON to find what is located in first slot of a players hotbar.

    EDIT: TL; DR; I just discovered what autism is and think I have it. On the other hand hell yea I'm up for this idea +1.

    -1, we shouldn't have too many blocks where it isn't immediately obvious what they do - people still run into enemy spawn :I

    I think theres enough blocks now, and restricting an area for flag carriers would ruin strategies.

    Well what would happen if the flag carrier tried to step inside? Would they die instantly or get flung back like from a sponge. Also, can soldier wallclimb on these blocks? Can ninja enderpearl into it?

    That's why we need another Developer. If there's no one to do this, we can't even consider trying this xD. We'll just have to wait for the next Developer.

    Finally someone who gets it (no offense to anyone else). This block would literally mean nothing else other than that the flag carrier can't go there. Any other player from whatever team go there. If it's a soldier or an archer spot, we can always just simply add cover or something. It shouldn't influence gameplay other than that the flag carrier can't get there. So the flag carrier can't just hide out in secret places. This is supposed to HELP gameplay, not make it more complicated xD.

    You guys know that in build, if you reach the boundary of the map, it won't let you go there? It says: 'you have reached the boundary of this map!!!'. This would be the same principle, except this would say: 'Hey! You're not allowed to go there with the flag!' It would then send you back to the block you just came from. If you pearl into there, you would instatele back to the block where you threw the pearl from.

    The flag carrier wouldn't die, it just wouldn't let them go there. It would send them back to the block they came from. You know how in build you can't go past the boundary of the map? Same idea here.
