Showcase Realistic City Stores

Very nice showcase, imo the Dick's Sporting Goods and Wendys look most realistic from real life to minecraft build.

 

Nice job! I personally like the Dick's Sporting Goods, and AMC theater the best of the bunch. One thing I would recommend is maybe changing the redstone along the bottom of the AMC build to a reddish clay. The redstome is a bit hard to look at imo. Same thing with the iron blocks on the top of the AMC.

 

Nice It's good to take inspiration from real life.
I also agree with @Trogy that some blocks could be replaced by more neutral blocks, such as quartz, snow, and white clay. Typically mineral/ore blocks are avoided when creating large structures as they're more useful when placed sparsely as decoration.

I love what you've started

 

Personally, I thought these wasn't amazing and most of your builds have one block or might of only used 3 at the most which is really annoying even though I know you put a lot of effort in them. Secondly I though most of your builds lacked details and blocks that would have made is realistic esspecially for the 1st image and it looks nothing like the original image shown. Thirdly you have show. The details inside of your builds which would of been better for viewers was I was trying to see what it looked inside. Overall you builds were OK but not the greatest.

Improvements

- improve the details of the build to give a better effect of the build
- get an outline before you start your structures, important for any builder to have a base
- use blocks that will complement each our and if you are trying to copy something you should try to use the correct blocks if you want people to take an interest in your build
- always build with a 3 block space

These is what you could improve on, please take this advice and make the most of it

 

I've always seen this section as more of a showcasing area than a critiquing area of the forums, and I reserve critiques for those who ask for input or those needing assistance with things like gameplay.

Just giving him tips and personal response on his builds and I thoughts he needed it

 

1. I agree, but it's not easy to add detail when Minecraft limits your capabilities.
2. Outline? Pretty sure he had something similar to an outline, because some of these builds look great.
3. Yes, some blocks could be replaced but overall he did pretty well in actually getting small details in, even if he did miss some.
4. ????? Lol "3 block space" makes no sense, could you be more descriptive?
Kiwi I would like to see your replicas :]

This is really nice. However theres a few things i think you could improve.

1. asphalt isnt ever black if its not very new, its much better having a gray or dark gray road than a black one, its more realistic and more plesant to look at.
Also for the markings on the parking lots and the roads, for white, use snow and or quartz and for the parking lots use yellow stained clay.

2. Even if the actual buildings are pretty uni color its almost always for the best to make some block variations even if they are very suttle, it helps a lot honestly.

Spoiler: Good looking block combos

Blue: lapis lazuli & wool
Red: Stained clay & wool
Sandstone walls: Smooth sandstone & doubble_stone_slab:9 (which is sandstone with completely smooth/flat sides)
Pavement or gray concrete: stone & stone:5
Gray brick wall: Stone brick + Stone brick:2
