I agree science disproves some parts of the Bible, such as Genesis, but not the whole thing.

 

The whole idea of sin originates in Genesis; if that's disproven what even is there to repent for?

That's Ken Ham's whole shtick; if it might prove me wrong then I ignore it. The whole 'were you there?' spiel genuinely exists solely to make it so you don't have to think about evidence.

 

I'm saying that the idea that the world was created in 7 days has been proved, by science, to be wrong.

I choose to believe in God for a solid foundation in my life; there'll be times when everything seems hopeless, and the belief that God always loves us is the only thing I have to fall back on. For example, when my house burned down and I lost just about everything. @SquishyCalvin could probably tell you about it since he also helped me through that period. Anyways, if you (whoever is reading this) don't believe in God, that's cool, I won't try to tell you you're wrong, and I couldn't prove it if I tried. Sorry for boring y'all with that spiel.

No secular / non-religious scientist will say the earth is younger than a some billions of years old because that's ridiculous. Literally the only thing in the entire world that claims that is a single book written by some dudes in the middle east thousands of years ago.

And that's perfectly fair; if it's what you need to get through the day then ain't nobody gonna deny you that.

I have to say after a day of consideration that this thread really doesn't have that much of a point. Neither side is really going to change their viewpoint on their beliefs or lack thereof. Of course, some like to exercise brain power, but I think it is a waste of energy since no real change of heart is likely to occur. Just my opinion on this

 

I was raised as a Christian (originally Presbyterian, now Methodist) and nothing has happened that has made me question my faith.
