My name is Diego Alvarez and I am one of seven “Consultants” hired to find a cure to the zombie apocalypse.

It’s classic mythology, the hero’s journey, and it’s about the best of us coming together for one cause, to do the right thing.

Except we aren’t the best of us. Seventeen years ago I was one of the best of the best. When I left the service, I ran into a professional super villain and he offered me a job. He helped me design my armors features so that it was smaller and more mission capable.

I was a disabled veteran with a drinking problem and a $10,000 a month mechanics bill to maintain my prosthesis.

A few years after that we gave up wearing masks altogether.

I was the Dragon @Lightwielder and I was one of the best assassins on the planet. Not what you would expect from a former Recon Marine. I'm one of the lucky ones to survive the desert.

Most of the heroes died shortly after the zombie virus turned large portions of the population into rabid flesh eating zombies. The infected were rapid and fast moving once turned.

Those guys in tights, capes, and stupid powers got toasted within the first few engagements with the infected.

Funny story, the guys I roll with, none of them have powers, just tech, science, military training, and weapons. None of us has died yet and we aim to keep it that way.

We are the ultimate cynics, sometimes changing sides in the middle of the fight if they get a better offer.

In this fight against the undead we are the ultimate underdogs. 100,000 to 1 to be exact.

And we are the other guys. Not the heroes.

We are the Super Villains and we are humanity’s last hope.

Our seven man team made it through the infected city to the school. My mates were busy rescuing the 429 kids who happened to get stuck here on the day the zombie virus spread.

I’m standing outside the school providing protection so that everyone can get out alive.

Seventeen years ago, I was a very successful Special Operations Capable reconnaissance asset of Marine Air-Ground Task Force aka Force Recon.

That was before an IED blew up our convoy and I nearly died.

The scientist and surgeons from a private company swung into action and saved my life. When I recovered in Germany, I was augmented…and it was painful.

My body was rebuilt with the latest in scientific breakthroughs.

My limbs have been enhanced to be much stronger than a normal human.

They made me faster, stronger, and more resistant to damage. My body is highly resistant to heat and weapons.

Landing at the site in the ZEUS Assault Transport was like kicking the hornets’ nest. The ZEUS dropped us off in our armored tank we refer to as the BEAST.

Thousands of zombies were pouring into the streets. They were running in from all directions. Overhead @DarkTitan_ was picking them off with his suppressed sniper rifle.

He was calling his shots from the roof.

Three Tangos down, he replied over the coms.

The BEAST was coated with my metamaterial tech making it nearly invisible.

The zombies continued to amass to the west.

In the distance it looked like thousands of smaller groups but zooming in I could see it was thousands.

My desert camo armor rested over my black Exo-Skeleton.

I’m one of a kind.

A hybrid terminator with a soul.

My limbs have been replaced with a nearly indestructible metal.

My AR-15, from Taran Tactical aka Taran Tactical Innovations Rifle model TR is suppressed. I look through the scope and slowed my breathing.

I believe you were a combat controller last time...

 

Maybe next time I can write you in as a different service branch.... what would you like to be?

 

Yeah, I'be avoided them on purpose...since I've never met one in real life.

I have met Rangers and Force Recon Marines. Tend to write about people I've met because they provide great source material and background

 

I've read those books. One you might want to check out is "Black Hawk Down."

 

The book is so well written.
