A long time ago, I made a thread about how Chemist and Archer could work together to improve Archer's abilities. It was a great idea, but then I looked at Elf sitting in the corner and I thought since CTF seems far from 1.9, I'd try and use what I had in the Chemist/Archer synergy thread and apply it to Elf.

Basically, the water element is borderline useless at the moment. So, a friendly chemist could splash the Elf with any type of potion and allow the next shot from the water element to apply potion effects in the radius of the arrow's impact. Think about it, an Elf could help rush the enemy flagroom with healing/regeneration arrows; Elf could also help slow down attackers and recover with poison/damage. Anyway, it's a nice addition to Elf's abilities and I feel it also fits well with the class.

Important Note: Healing/Harming arrows take effect once (not for a set time like in lingering potions). Harming does an immediate 3.5 hearts of true damage. Healing for 8 hearts in 1 go seems too strong, perhaps that could be changed into 3-5 hearts.

Quick question, would the water arrow lose the ability to put out players on fire if it has a potion effect?

I really like this idea although it'd have to be tweaked so it wouldn't be too OP (i.e. elf gets strength/speed buffs, can apply them to other teammates. Could make 'buffed teams' even more of an issue). Would be worth testing tho

    First, some questions.

If a mage splashes its heal spell, will the water element absorb it?

Does elf save the potions? Say two chemists threw their pots at the elf. Would elf only keep the most recent potion?

How about if an enemy threw a potion like healing or regeneration at the elf. Would it still absorb the effects? My idea would be yes if elf had projectile shield on.

Can elf still receive the buffs after absorbing it?

Say the chemist throws the pot at the elf but the pot lands barely in the affectable radius. Does elf still shoot out the full effect (e.g. chemist throws strength pot and it gives like 10 seconds of strength to elf. Does elf still output the full 3:00?)

Anyway, nice idea. I don't really see how it could be abused but I feel like this ability would almost never be used. Noobs wouldn't have the premium classes and probably wouldn't know about this anywa and in competitive matches, it seems kind of slow to use and requires to much to much timing and teamwork. It's a creative idea but CTF has other things to worry about. Rip the CTF devs

No, mage heal spell wouldn't be absorbed

I think stacking up on potions would be fine, maybe a maximum of 3-5 depending on the latest potions that have been thrown at you

I don't think enemy chemist potions would be used. Enemy projectiles are to be reflected by elf, not absorbed

Yes, potions used on the elf still effect that elf (along with also absorbing the potion for water element).

I think regardless of where an elf gets hit by the potion, they still always give the same effect for the same duration when using the water element. It doesn't have to be 3 minutes, maybe 1 minute is more realistic

    Thanks for the feedback!

As munson said too, this could be very overpowered (imagine poison effect on a whole flagroom / recov squad / offense squad), with some nerfs n stuff I think this could be a very interesting idea
