Trailer for HG

are you silly? hg is dead nobody will want to make it

 

not a bad idea. here's why its unrealistic and, probably, will never happen

- making anything close to a 'high quality' trailer (i.e. wave X trailer by @Xelasi, trailers by @joy) takes a lot of time and effort especially if you aren't already super familiar with the software you're using (usually premiere, after effects, or sony vegas) or with the various things you can do to make your work as good as possible. Even longer if you have to gather the clips yourself instead of just having people send them to you

- not paid work. media team only make videos because 1) they love doing it, and 2) there's usually some guarentee that their work will be appreciated. With HG, the server is so dead that there is very little likelihood that many people will see it or care to see it and because of that, those who do won't appreciate the work that went into the trailer. that brings me to my third point...

- the video will get a lot of hate for no reason. if you look at Xelasi's wave X trailer, you'll notice that it has like, 25% dislikes and some dumb comments on it. This is because the trailer was uploaded to the old McPVP (now Brawl) channel. Uploading to the channel ensures that the video will get some views, because it still has a good 56k subs. downside is that a bunch of dumbasses from mcpvp will hate on whatever gets uploaded because "brawl is dead server xd lul" or "i hate brawl. why i am i getting notifications for this ****". you know, that kind of thing

it's really discouraging and unfortunate because a ****load of work goes into making quality edits (can take dozens of hours depending on what you're doing, how long the clip is, what kind of transitions/effects are being added, etc.) and most ppl have zero understanding of that

- final point, HG is dead. the glory days from 2012-2014 are over. the playerbase has moved on. the youtubers are playing league of legends, uncharted, and uploading Jake Paul 'commentaries'. noone is playing HG anymore. we can debate why all this has happened and whether or not HG would still have a decent playerbase if brawl hadn't taken 6+ months to release the beta blah blah blah doesn't matter... thing is the books came out over seven years ago. The last (mediocre) movie was released almost two years ago. HG is a tired concept and it's just not as exciting as it used to be & that's all there is to it. it's played out

a trailer, made by volunteers, is not going to change that. especially when it will take a long time to make, won't get enough views to make a big difference (all recent videos on mcpvp channel get like 1-3k), and is still goign to get **** on by BBH dickriders who have nothing better to do

as @SoCool21 has previously explained, it costs brawl nothing to run HG. they just use spare server boxes to run it. with or without HG brawl will still have those boxes, so it makes more sense to keep HG around than removing it altogether as at least you are using the server boxes (which cost quite a bit) for something which has the possibility of attracting new peeps and making some $$$ for the network vs. not using server boxes which defeats the point of having them. so ya, if someone wants to make a high quality trailer - otherwise no one will look at it, let alone take it seriously - then god bless. if you want to do that, i wish you well. but imo its a pretty poor use of resources to have the media team spend time on a thing for HG when they could put that time into projects for war, warz, ctf, build, etc. you know servers that still have a playerbase and make money for much greater reward
