Idea CTF Engineer class

    I think that the engineer class is a bit too good and bad at the same time. I think that you should give the engineer a better sword iron boots leather hat iron chest plate and iron leggings I think that this will make the kit a bit better because in close combat it is not that good. Aswell as giving it a buff I think that the turret should not be able to hit a ninja while invisible. The ninja has low health already and it is around 2 or 3 shots from the engineers turret to kill the ninja. With these balance changes I think it will make the engineer class more balanced out and better for the game mode.

    I'll be the first to admit that engineer has been a fundamentally flawed class since it was added and that the "rework" a few years back did absolutely nothing to fix this, but this suggestion overlooks some gameplay aspects (you're a new player, so this is fine - don't be too put off from my response).

    This is the point of engineer. It has this big powerful turret that it can use to defend itself, which is why I'd say engineer is primarily a mid-range class. Like the other mid-range classes (mage and elf), engineer is incredibly weak at melee but get much better at a small range. It should remain like this - the counter to mid-range classes is to fight them from a long range (if you're archer) or fight them in melee (if you're literally any other class).

    Engineer needs to have a counter; it shouldn't do well in every fight. It's like giving heavy a powerful bow, or archer full diamond armour and a diamond sword. It removes a counter and all classes need to have a counter, otherwise it will be objectively overpowered.

    This is actually one of the more "agreed on" changes to engineer, so props for dreaming it up. Personally, I don't know what to feel about it: on the one hand, it's annoying for a ninja to have to get past a turret due to it's abysmal effective health pool, but on the other hand, it's annoying for every single person on the other team for a ghost cap to happen (basically a strategy which let's you pick up the flag as ninja and get halfway across the map less than a few seconds afterwards, if you didn't already know).

    If engineer can shoot invisible ninjas, it's a major nerf to what is a fundamentally flawed gameplay mechanic, so I'd like to see it kept in for the time being. Ultimately, I don't think that just one class in the game should counter such a flawed gameplay mechanic and the strategy should be removed entirely. If we do decide to completely remove ghost capping, I'd be all for this suggestion.

    Engineer being trash in close combat (not strictly true thanks to the knockback II pickaxe) is the only reason why it is possible to kill it 90% of the time.

    150% agreed. Would be nice if you don't have to die like 50 times to kill an Engineer as Ninja cause you get 2 shot by turret. Although to address Tom's point I'd like to see a slight mobility nerf and damage buff to Ninja so it can't just fly across the flag with the map and has an easier time taking out squishes

    Meh engineer's core design is so god awful that it needs a complete rework imo. It's been nerfed for five years and its still broken as ****. Rework it

    I'd also like to add that Ninja is one of the most annoying and difficult class to play against in direct combat because of how fast and how high the damage output is, and how they can do damage then run away (especially with eggs).

    As it stands, I completely agree that if Ninja were reworked/nerfed enough, I'd be willing to give up this part of engi. Though, I highly doubt it will ever happen since so many players play Ninja and Engi doesn't really affect team/serious matches at all.

    Until then, I guess I'll be playing Engineer to wreck bad players who rely on Ninja/Assassin and don't realise that heavy destroys engineer when played right.
