Yes, imo it should be considered glitch and therefore it will be against MMR. The iron bars thing on blackout is there for a reason, and if you can get the flag through there without either you are be a soldier and climb over or you go around, then there is no point of it being there (and the iron bars aren't there in like Blackout 3 I think) While some people may say it does involve strategy if you plan that you drop it there, and others may also say to just have ninjas camp there, but if you are think about it, xxxdead most likely did not intend for this to happen when building blackout (if he did then correct me), and why should we be doing this if the map maker did not intend for this to happen

 

Although mojang/minecraft doesn't define the bar pass as a f0rm of glitching (they define it as items are supposed to be able to be dropped through bars), I do think it breaks the purpose of the map, at least in competitive play. There is a giant barrier there for a reason.

Also to add onto that, I think the classic "headshotting through the wall" in competitive should also be glitching. It is very similar to the same situation as the bars, but it breaks the purpose of the map/being inside "in cover".

 

Bar pass shouldn't be allowed imo. Just get a soldier to climb the wall and then pass it to them, and have them jump back over. Takes a few extra seconds to do, and leaves them more vulnerable crossing the barrier instead of having the flag instantly go from a dangerous zone to a safe one.

No. This isn't glitching. I don't really see the problem with it. If you have the enemies offense trapped in a situation such as blackout, harassing them with ninja's or waiting until they pass seems plenty enough of a counter.

 

Tbh no, I can pass though real life bars too if they allow it, also you could theoretically do it with any other item, if the banner wasn't the only item you can actually drop. (Following happened to TT in Defy vs TT)It's also easy to counter if the one who gets passed to dies/is knocked away or simply, have a ninja there to simply recov it. To the yes voters: don't blame a game glitch/game mechanic if you cannot prevent that from happening.
I would vote Yes if the carrier isn't a soldier and the person who you want to pass to isn't a soldier too, to prevent soldiers from barpassing.

Haha ur so funny why do you even bother being annoying when ur banned? Also it would depend on some factors, f.e. where does the swing hit the person, can the person dodge and etc.

 

since I am clearly the best bar passer in the game (@ppm people) it should be allowed.

 

Passing the flag through the iron barrier isn't a glitch. It is the physics of MC. The iron bars is not thick enough like a block to be able to limit a player to pick it up on the other side.

A good example are 2 blocks that are touching diagonally to one another, if you go to the corners where each block touch one another, you are able to pick up items or the flag that's on the opposite side.

 

Yes, but when xxxdead was building this map do you think he put iron bars so you could pass the flag through, or so there is a barrier between red and blue side?

The bar pass uses an intended feature, pickup range on the flag, to avoid going over the top/around the side of blackout. In doing so, it gives classes that normally would be less viable a chance to make plays. In all honesty, it's also pretty easy to defend against on blackout specifically. The thing is, for the pass to work you're 100% forced to drop the flag. Dropping the flag is a very big risk, that that imo counters the upside for the pass a good bit. It's a situational play that opens up gameplay and gives more options to players.

This is also a thing on many other maps, but people just don't seem to do it. It's just the case of people not realizing how the mechanics of the flag work. The first time I remember seeing the bar pass was the first match I played with Anni. Iirc it was laughingteam101 that passed the wool through the bars. Regardless, this was a thing 3-4 before the majority of players started doing it/even knew about it. Mods however did know about it back then, and cleared it.

The biggest way to appease both sides in the situation is simple imo. Remove the instant pickup for flag carriers that was added as a "test" right after the mcpvp/brawl merge and has remained in the game ever since. A longer pickup timer (used to be 1.5 seconds) will greatly reduce the viability of the bar pass without completely destroying the mechanic.
