Idea Banner to Wool

Banners are a newer thing in minecraft and it looks worse on a player compared to flying wool. what the ****

 

Aside from the aesthetics, I’m inclined to like this idea solely for the nostalgia. Many years ago when I played CTF daily I got used to the wool. It was quick, easy and fun.

Currently I wouldn’t consider this one of the more important changes needed in CTF, though it’s simple enough to do.

To sum up what I'm saying -
I think bringing back the wool block would be a good change, as it brings things back to being cosmetic. The banner has advantages and disadvantages, but what we really want is smooth gameplay where we don't have to worry about dying because someone saw the flag from across the map, or having less armour, or not being able to see in third person.

This could bring some positives, but as of right now it's not a change that CTF really needs to become the game it was.

I think it's time to leave wool behind and actually focus on what really needs to be changed.

never thought I'd say this, but in this one case the banner improves the gameplay from a recoverer's perspective: in a large crowd of minecrafters its sometimes hard to find the flag carrier with flying wool, but with a huge banner on the carrier's head its easy to find them.

from a capper's perspective, yea the view being blocked in f5 is a big issue, and you also have less armor since the helmet gets replaced.

maybe instead of a banner replacing the helmet slot, why not use a wool block? Not blocking your view, still easy to recognize. Just looks ****

Instead of replying with "I agree," you could click on that green mark and it will show that you agree with the post it lies under.

The “magic will that flys out” doesn’t take away the helmet. Wool on head would still take away the helmet like banner

 

Isn't there a mod someone made to replace it with flying wool?

I'm sure not everyone has gotten used to the banners, but I'd be confident saying the majority have learned to live with them.

I feel as though the banners, even though they get so much hate, are fairly helpful (except the fact you lose armor points). It's a lot easier to see who has the flag in a group of people, and it definitely helps recovery with being able to identify who the flag carrier is and where the carrier has gone. Sure, wool would be good for nostalgia's sake, but I think overall the banner is better for gameplay (minus losing the helmet and F5 being somewhat blocked).

 

The only thing I don't like about banners are the armour loss and there's a larger delay to picking up the flag than there was on mcpvp.

 

Looking at the fact that pyro isn't instakill, in my opinion, the fact the banner makes you a beacon is balanced. Since a class like a soldier can get out of the flagroom (sometimes taking very little damage), the team often has to rely on recovery. Being able to see who is holding the flag helps the recovery role, but also improves the skill of people trying to cap. Having your whereabouts known by anyone trying to recover can increase you skill in dodging and keeping yourself alive. This is just my opinion though, so who knows if this is even true.
