    Is there a way where only the flag carrier sees the wool and everyone else sees the banner?

    Some soldier mains can get out of a flag room taking little damage from defense. I didn't say having less armor increases skill but that being visible by recovery players does. If you're holding the flag and are clearly visible by recovery players/classes (archers, assassins, pyros, etc), you'll get better at being aware of your surroundings and watching your movements. In competitive play especially, learning to focus one player is useful. Giving the defensive players a chance to learn that playstyle definitely helps players in competitive matches.

    I see your side but I think there should be a way for you to choose. So defence can choose banner and offence and choose wool. Or just let the community decide kinda like medic sharpness they asked in game and people voted.

    True, true, but there’s a compromise to that. From a recovery perspective it’s incredibly easy to find the flag, and you have 1) the compass pointing towards it, and B) once you’re close enough the banner to see. Perhaps we could re-add wool, but add a bunch of red / blue (according to the flag colour, obviously) particles above the flag carrier? It wouldn’t be as obvious as the banner, but it would still be very possible to spot the flag carrier in the midst of a battle.
