Idea [Free Recov] Bomberman

    Very quick and dirty, I haven't had the time to balance it or anything but I wanted to get the concept down before I forgot.

    Hotbar

    Iron Sword
    • Sharpness I
    • Changes player tag colour when right-clicked (this feature could be moved to another item)
    • Tag returns to normal when attacked or attacking with sword
    Steak (x4)

    Sticky Bomb (x10)
    • When right-clicked on an enemy player, detonates after 3s
    • 4.5 hearts of true damage
    Gas Bomb (x10)
    • AoE with 5 block radius
    • Lasts 1s
    • Gives Weakness II
    • Doubles damage from Sticky Bomb inside a 1 block radius
    Armor

    Iron helmet


    Strategy


    This is a recovery class first and foremost: disguise yourself, sticky bomb the flag carrier, use a gas bomb just before the sticky bomb explodes, and finish them off with the sword. It's also useful in defense against mobile cappers (e.g. Ninja ghost caps, speedy Soldiers and Elves), which means it won't be super obvious if a Bomberman is sneaking around.

    As I say I haven't had much time to explore this so feel free to mess around with this concept, it's not perfect.

    No steak?

    Sounds pretty good, maybe add 1-2 steak so that it isn‘t too useless. I can see some funny flag room clearing strategies as well.

    Looks very early stages, doesn't seem to have much thought out other than the role. Needs fleshing out before I can make my mind up about it.

    Honestly I tried to flesh it out a few days ago and I got nowhere, part of the reason for posting was to open up discussion about the concept, since I'm really un-creative :v

    Either lower the amount of sticky bombs or add a cooldown to this. In my eyes, it could be a bit op but I'm not 100% sure as the pre-detonation time might fix this. Very cool concept though.

    Overall, a pretty cool idea and is a very good counter against ninja cappers if used well.

    This is an interesting idea. I question if changing the players tag colour will disguise them well enough though, and if you would be able to play this class over a few lives, as anyone who is attentive will remember that player X is playing as Bomberman and kill them while they’re trying to sneak around, similar to ninjas.
    Just a few more questions:
    1. Do you want multiple bombs to be deployed onto someone and then they’re all detonated at the same time for an instakill? Either way I think 10 bombs is a good amount.
    2. Is there a way to get rid of the sticky bombs or are they permanently stuck? (ie. you drop it out of your inventory or something)
    3. Should the gas bomb be throwable rather than having to place it down?

    Overall I agree with the consensus that this class needs a bit of work, but it’s a cool idea.

    1. I thought that stacking might be a bit OP, but with only 10 bombs and a way to remove them, it should be ok. Might need to lower damage output as well.

    2. Great idea, but idk how you'd do that. Maybe a removable item in your inventory? You'd have to be careful not to make it too obvious, or it would be completely useless.

    3. Sure, why not.

    Another idea for the disguise is to turn yourself into another player, with the same class, tag and name. Would be easy to stay disguised, and you'd be able to do some interesting stuff with it (E.g. pretend you're an assassin and force people to block, scare people away as dwarf, etc.)

    2. I agree that the item in the inventory would be too obvious and eventually people would just get used to switching and dropping that inventory slot. Perhaps a better idea is to make the player who has the sticky bomb on them crouch for 3 seconds to get it off. That way they are slown down if they don’t want to die.

    Your new approach to the disguise is better than the previous, makes it a lot more skilful and less likely to be found that way. Were you talking about disguising as an enemy or friendly player though? Also on this you’d probably need to be able to select who to disguise as and someway to find out what classes they’re playing.

    Allies or enemies, disguise by right-clicking them with your sword (or another item).

    I can see where you are coming from and I get the idea you are putting across, but having this on defence would be OP.
    I can understand that you only have an iron helmet and can be killed quickly but, add this with weakness II with the gas bomb and you arn't. Adding Weakness II with 9 hearts of true damage from the gas bomb would be broken, as its basically an insta kill. Medic could counter this with the high steak amount, but heavies and soldiers have a weakness as they rely on armour which doesn't matter due to the Pure damage to hearts which is -2 steak. (The way dwarf,heavy and chemist is weak to elf atm).

    -Make sticky bombs unstickable (By shifting for 2 seconds etc)
    -Make sure sticky bombs arn't stackable.

    Super cool concept, like the idea and everything although i have a few concerns:
    Add a cooldown to this, or make the tag reset after you've gotten a kill. The player could easily corner a guy on the opposite team, kill him without the rest of the team noticing, corner another guy and do the exact same thing over and over again.

    Lower the amount of bombs to like 3, and make it regenerate after time.

    Other than this, nothing but what has been said is not worth saying.
    I do like the idea, although it only needs a few tweaks here and there.
